    Ok, filter looked fairly good, few small particles but not much. The fluid however is the color of maple syrup, not late season.. but reddish. And sticky.. I’d guess a fluid change/flush..?

    Yes I do, had to remove it with a pipe wrench and some heat, but it’s still full of oil.. Cut it open and look for debri?

    I’ve only had the machine for less than 2 years, had lots of issues. It always seemed fine until the last couple months, it started seeming slow, then last week got real slow. I changed the filter and it got slightly better, more like the last few months. Hope that makes sense..

    My Cat 297c, GCP01201, has 4400 hrs, bought it used at 4200hrs. The bucket tilt is extremely slow, had it in the shop for new tracks and now the tilt down takes 20 seconds… up is ok, seems normal. Still lots of power lifting and drive. Fluid is good, filters were changed at 4250 hrs .. what...

    Nige, was a little delayed in getting into trouble shooting.. 10 days of sinus/ear infection.. traced everything to the heater core, there isnt a valve for heat/air. its been removed and the coolant has been bypassed from going to the core. Meaning , nothing flows to the heater core. Someone...

    Nige, would it be a good guess that the AC switch on the overhead consol is what opens or closes that valve?

    My 297 had a new motor put in, and I believe they turned off the water from going to the heater core. I've looked for the valve to turn it back on and cant seem to find it. theres one hose that goes to the inlet in the motor, the other goes to the radiator. Neither have a valve.. please help.

    Very new here, I have a 2008 cat 297c that needs a new engine, or reman.. my vin is CAT0297GAGCP01201, What engine is in this? What I can see online is that it’s a C3.4, but a parts place told me it was a 3044c, are they the same, or not quite? Thanks!!
