Help me identify this Michigan loader model type

Can you get model and serial numbers off transmission, convertor, axles any of that would help to identify the machine, also there should be a serial number stamped in the frame somewhere.

74, 275b hydraulic issue (oldseabee help)

Sorry, I've been taking treatments for cancer and haven't been to storage unit for a while to pull service grams. Have you tried minnpar.com for the kit? There should be a dampener in the valve, might have a plugged orfice, if it worked ok before, probably had correct orfices. sg kit would have...

74, 275b hydraulic issue (oldseabee help)

Husco is a split spool pilot operated. one spool feeds oil in the other lets oil out of cylinder, controlled by orfices, could be a hanging spool or plugged orfice. You have to drain system before opening the valve or it will all run out in your lap. Let me do a little research before you dive...

You say that you are new to this loader, so bear with me if I ask dumb questions. 1. You say the fluids are full, the transmission should be in neutral with the engine running to get a good level reading, it may be a little low because the oil needs to be hot to get a true reading and the...

Glad to hear it. A long way around to get there but you also now have a working knowledge of how that pump works. My fault for not having you do that first. Some folks have to adjust what dont need it then cuss the machine for not working right.

Let me check to be sure, but if memory serves me and you can check the hose routing, the oil cooler in the bottom tank of the rad is the transmission oil cooler not the hydraulic oil cooler. The washer you mentioned is a check valve to seperate the high pressure rear pump oil from entering the...

Michigan Clark 55 loader, Crack in lower steering trunion flange.

Steer stops look good but if they aren't hitting, may need to be added to or linkage from steer valve out of adjustment. Could also have been one shock load like rear wheel dropping into a hole in full turn. Did you get operators manual?

Michigan Clark 55 loader, Crack in lower steering trunion flange.

You can go to minnpar.com and down load parts book and operators manual by model and serial number, I think the operator's manual has specs for the steer stops and parts book will have part number for the trunion flange. Minnpar has some parts available. Not sure how strong the braze is, might...

Michigan Clark 55 loader, Crack in lower steering trunion flange.

Probably steer stops worn to the point that now the trunion is the stop

Typically it would be right where the fuel goes into the pump, parts book shows it right at the end of the fuel hose, maybe even screws into the fuel pump, it would look like a connector. As to the electric pump, it would depend on the volume of the pump, it is a through line through the...

    michigan 55a

I was looking at the fuel lines in the parts book for the Michigan 55A and it does show a check valve at the end of the supply line from the tank to the pump, on that machine the tank is lower then the the pump so drain back could have been a problem.

    michigan 55a

I didn't have much to do with the engines, but I do remember that there was a check valve in the supply line to the fuel pump to hold the fuel in the pump so it wouldn't drain back into the tank when the machine was shut down. after sitting for all that time it could be stuck shut so the pump...

Just wondering if you ever got your 275 working right. Hope I haven't led you astray.

Bill Dempsey, I am too old and to many health problems to be working any place. I do enjoy helping folks out with some of the old machines. My theory is that Knowledge is wasted if it's not shared, I kept most of the manuals and notes I accumulated over the years both on Clark and Bell...

I may have missed a question I should have asked. Any chance somebody not knowing what they were doing set that relief valve on the pump to a higher level above the main relief in the main valve so it will never switch and drop the front section of the pump. Try backing off the relief on the...

    New to me Michigan loader

That's the one, it should measure the pressure in the front section of the pump, pressure should climb until it reaches the 1800 PSI point or close then should drop off as the control spool shifts and the front section of the pump stops sending oil to the main valve. The oil from the front...

I forgot to mention when you are revving up to clear trash out of the relief valve on the pump to bottom out the bucket roll back a couple of times to bump the pressure up. Dec. 1990 to May 1991 I was in the desert in Saudi Arabia as a mechanic with the Navy Seabees camping out in a ten man tent...

    New to me Michigan loader

Did some more digging and found that only a very few B models were set up to divert steering pump oil to the main valve, mostly as a test. The C models were produced with the diverter system and some pump changes. the pumps you have work the way I said, the main thing was that they dumped the...

    New to me Michigan loader

Sounds like that's where your engine bogging down and hydraulics slamming is, the valve on top of the pump. Now you have to decide if you want to take it apart and have a look or buy a new one, like I said earlier stuck spool was a bit of a problem on those early pumps but you also have a...

I should have added that you had to be above 1200 RPM for the main pump to dump one section
