    new to me 936 cat

I've had 4 of them. Great machines. Only issues were leaks on the valves for the loader controls under the cab. The small hex-head screws would back themselves out. A little lock-tite would solve this. Parking brake issues, but that was mostly operator error due to lack of adjustment, not...

I tell them I'm in bankruptcy, but they are in luck, the court-appointed receiver is in the office, and I can get him to discuss whatever promotion they are selling.

    Snow tires?

Are you willing to experiment with your existing tires? You can buy an electric tire groover from here: http://www.bryke.com/wheel_tire_accessories.html and modify the tread pattern to eliminate the 'blockiness'. You can also add sipes with the groover to help with wet/ice traction.

new bed in dump box with center of plate loose should it be welded to lower floor???

Yeah, I think it should have been 'plug-welded' over top of the crossmembers. Otherwise, the dirt that will inevitably get in there will cause it to bow upwards.

    Cat truck

Cummins will be supplying the DPF/SCR technology. I'm pretty sure that the 550HP will still be the Cat block in the Cat 680 truck. If you want bigger power in the International trucks, then Cummins will the the engine supplier.

    Cat truck

I bob-tailed one. I wasn't terribly impressed. But to really tell, you need to have a loaded trailer and give it a real work-out. I didn't like the ergonomics of the steps and doors for getting in and out. The exposed airlines all around it didn't impress me much, either. They need to offer...

cross dump trailers any experience with them??? Thinking of purchasing one instead of

They are a rare unit. I have seen a few. Only one 'close-under-load' style, it was a DeCap. I've seen several of the old-style that are a one-shot deal, open up and your commited to dumping it. They have a over-center cam actuated by service brake pots to close them and to open, electric...

Know of a good (LOUD) wireless phone bluetooth?

I use a Blueparrot B250-XT. I see they now have some that do not go over the head. That's the only beef I have with it - not comfortable with a hard hat. I may upgrade to the Xpress http://www.vxicorp.com/solutions/blueparrott-bluetooth-mobile

Most Cost Effective Way To Do Some Significant Trenching?

I would have thought that installing conventional drainage tile would be the answer, but if you can mix the stratified layers of clay and underlying sand and improve the permeability without installing an 'unnatural' failure-prone man-made system and then having to deal with the water collected...

Most Cost Effective Way To Do Some Significant Trenching?

1,426,000 to 1,833,000 cubic yards of material (in-place volume, with no allowance for any cutback) and backfill. I don't think the job is an affordable for an orchard, even if it were growing oil. I'm curious to see if the OP sets out anymore details.
