    Junkyard's work thread.....maybe haha

(Unfortunately) I've been making several runs between Joplin and OKC. I drove right past there and saw your rigs. All I know is, that turnpike can be wicked. There's been an RV trailer go up like a bonfire, your incident pictured, and the other day there was a semi turned over in the...

    gear oil pump

I went to HF and bought a 20# siphon feed sand blaster pot (the one that looks like a small propane tank, but with a bung on top). When I got it out of the box, I simply ran a hose off the bottom with a ball valve on the end and plumbed an air fitting to the top. Dump gear oil in it (hot, cold...

    Common rail fuel pressure reading?

It says it alternates between voltage and pressure readings. It might be a fairly cheap alternative to having to have the MFG electronic software and tooling... and it might be fairly inaccurate. ? I just wasn't sure what everyone else uses to check out oddball equipment for fuel pressures.

    Common rail fuel pressure reading?

I have had a question come up in my mind awhile back, and then come to find out OTC tools had the same idea. Every now and then we will have an engine come in the shop that has common rail fuel system, and we need to check the rail pressure (no start/hard start/low power). And of course, it will...

    Air Filter Cleaning

A couple of thoughts. I was always taught that a dirty filter is actually more efficient due to the plugged particles causing smaller pores for the income particles to be caught in. IMO the filter has to be very dirty before I clean it, and then only as a "get-me-by" til it can be changed. Also...

Hitachi Excavator EX150LC has lost swing control?

When you aren't swinging and all of your controls are in neutral, there should be a swing brake that holds the upper house stationary. There might be a slight chance this has broke, but then the swing motor would also be junk too if it will free swing. Park it some place flat. Pick the boom up...

    Injector hour life

Make sure you dig out the square-cut o-ring around the hold down nut. It may not look like there is one, but trust me there is. With that out of the way, you get penetrating oil down between the nut and injector body. And yes, you don't want to wipe out the locating ball groove. Also, be...

    Thermal imagery uses

The Snap On guy came around the other day with a new toy to peddle. I was out and about in the field, but he got his hooks into the boss trying to sell him on a new thermal imager for $1200. He was pitching that you can use it to find bearings going south, misfires (finding a cold exhaust...

    Junkyard's work thread.....maybe haha

We have DIN fittings on Sennebogen machines we sell. Sometimes they show up on oddball stuff. They look real close to BSPP fittings if you have never been around them. FYI the o-ring on the tapered snout can give out and leak. It won't matter how tight you get the fitting, it's still gonna leak...

Difference in case fluids 372705r7 or 3540

Hytran Ultraction is the one in the bottom 2 pictures. It is an updated version. It has a higher oil molecule shear rating for newer transmissions. It is also backward compatible so it can go in older stuff and won't hurt anything.

    Gear oil dispenser

Try this. I bought a 10# siphon feed sandblast pot from Harbor Freight (~$50). When you get it out of the box, forget all of the siphon hose setup. Just run a hose off the bottom of the tank and put a shut off valve at the end. Screw an air fitting in the neck and use a regulator to cut the air...

Time for new service truck body/crane

My $0.02 and a question. I'm in a 11' IMT bed with a 30' 7500# crane. The doors on the IMT is my biggest complaint. They are pretty flimsy. I love my 30' reach, I wouldn't trade it, just wish I had the longer bed so it would stow flatter. All of the newer trucks our company has bought are...

    Lessons learned....

Well.... i guess i have one too. Customer says his dipper (stick, to the non-Case folks) lever is locked up. When i get there not only the lever physically unmoveable, but the dipper will free-swing. Found out the piston bolt came loose, trashed out the inside of the cylinder and sent a huge...

Case 850K blade angle won't hold

I would bet money that at least one of the piston bolts came loose on one of the angle cylinders. We have seen this ALOT. Hate to be the harbinger of bad news, but usually when this happens it destroys the barrel....

    CASE 1845C Engine Rebuild Kit

Give The Victor L Phillips Co a call. They are right there in town (well at least out on the hiway). They used to do lots of those engine when they were used more.

    Desperate for a service truck

They don't have a price listed so I dont kn ow if it fits your budget but there is GREAT looking truck on the Springfield MO Craigslist. If you look up "mechanics truck" under that city you should find it. Like I said its a 2014 so not sure what they want for it. Happy hunting! Let us know what...

580sl Can't get straight answer on Hytrans Ultra and Ultraction

Hytran ultraction is an updated version of ultra. It has higher shear properties in the oil. Ultra and ultraction will mix with no problems. As for the rear axle additive, I haven't heard any news about not using it with ultraction. Since the two oils are compatible with each other, I would see...

    Used oil tank ideas

Thanks for the ideas guys! I'm most interested in offloading. Glad to hear that someone else has put air pressure on a barrel to empty it. A funnel works pretty well to pour oil into the barrel but there are times when draining a hydraulic tank for example that gravity will drain most of it, but...

    Used oil tank ideas

I run a service truck and do some mobile pm work along with alot of other things. I guess I'm just trying to find the most efficient process possible (and the simplest). When the boss was running a truck he brags that he only used "empty 5 gal buckets that got tied down in the back. Thats all...
