    allis chalmers hd6 steering clutch

sounds like you are into it already, with the fuel tank out or the way and all. you need to disconnect the brake band from the pivot and actuating rod on the frone, do not remove the pivot pin in the rear, you will use the band to remove the clutch. loosten the bolt under the steering clutch...

    Track loader Identification

i can not tell for sure without seeing more pics. dry clutches went into the late 60's and this looks like an older machine than that. it may be a newer one with wet clutch and power assist steering, i don't know for sure without having the serial number. just a generalizaton on my part.

    Track loader Identification

that loader is an allis chalmers hd6g. should have a 4 cylinder engine, earlier ones had a buda engine, later ones had an allis chalmers engine. by the looks of it the machine has dry master clutch and hand steering clutches. they were in the 50-60 hp range and weighed 18-20,000 lbs. usually had...

    Allis Chalmers HD6 Clutch Problem

that is excessive adjustment. when you pull it apart, check for hot spots on the pressure plate or flywheel indicating a warped surface. must be slipping somewhat wearing away material or else you would not have to adjust it. check runout on the flywheel for trueness also.

    Trouble Starting TD-8E

sounds like the clicking part may be a glow plug relay or relay for the sttarter solenoid. what you can do to get it running is look directly at the starter. it will have a solenoid on the top of it. there will be a large battery cable coming to one of the large terminals. check to see you have...

    Bushing turning in the rail

big decision: run them to destruction and have to replace them and the sprockets, replace just the rails if sprockets are decent and spend less money now, run to destruction and sell with bad undercarriage. my vote is run them until destruction and see what happens. you may get more hours than...

Throwing the track on my D4D

if the roller on the left is one that came off the dozer, there is something wrong besides the spring broken. something caused the one side of the roller to wear and that is what is throwing the track off. the rollers will not keep the track on. maybe rear mounts for the track frame, allowing...

    Bushing turning in the rail

looks way too good to stop running. these old ones are too indestructable. try welding, what do you have to lose? pin must be frozen to bushing for this to happen. you may weld up track and then find out that pin is frozen and break welds immediately of tracks won't turn. try a few first...

    Bushing turning in the rail

what kind of dozer is it and what part of the us are you located? alot of scrap and salvage yards around to find a set to replace them. seems a shame to retire an od working machine for a set of bum tracks. send a pic of the machine if you get time.

Throwing the track on my D4D

i have the same problem but my pins are pretty worn. is theis a dry undercarriage or a salt undercarriage. the problem i have is on slight slopes going across the slope, the rails are rounded on the outside and the rollers are rounded on the outside flange. makes it want to roll off the rollers...

    Bushing turning in the rail

the rails are hardened and will probably not take the weld, the weld will crack just at the outside of the weld. i tried to weld the master pin in a track and it just kept breaking weld. i can['t hurt to try though. is it possibly under warranty? some manufactures have warranty that lasts to...

    Stripping topsoil help !

piling up dirt and then carrying it is very inefficient. wears the heck out of undercarriage also. try to scrape dirt and then keep pushing and cutting as you go. it will be most efficient to make several piles if you can rather than 1 stockpile. no teeth can actually help you and keep you out...

    Carco Winch cable

    Carco Winch cable

i checked my carco winch this weekend and it has a large swaged end on it, about 1-1/2" in diameter. it hooked under a small tab to hold it until it got a few turns on it. looks like yours is worn away. did not have my camera to take pics, will try next weekend. the cable clamp should do the...

    Another, "What is it?" question...

the serial number seems wrong. they did not put the machine serial number on the blade, that is the serial number of the blade only. the serial number for the machine is on the back of the final drive housing, upper right side, stamped in the casting. it is also in the operators compartment just...
