    D3B Dozer

Yep, 3204 engine.Solid block unless someone has bored it and installed liners. Also has 2 ring pistons and was noted for blowby when new. Overhaul kits come available with 3 ring pistons. Make sure the engine does not overheat. These engines do blow head gaskets however the engines are simple...

    Komatsu D31P-16 Engine rebuild.

The cost on the head was #345.00.I can't remember the cost on the gaskets. It was a pain to go back in and retorque the head bolts after I had run it a few hours but I did not want to run the risk of not retorqueing. Sure made a different in starting and the power.

    Komatsu D31P-16 Engine rebuild.

I do not know how far you are from Caruthersville, Mo. but this is one of the best head rebuilders around and very resonable. I had the same issues as you on my D3B and a head rebuild cured the problem. I had a blowed head gasket and the valves guides were leaking bad. You can mic the cylinders...

Question on steering pedals on JD 450g with torque convertor

On my Cat D3B you have to have the pedals adjusted just right to get the clutch pack to release and the the brakes applied. If the clutch is not fully releasing the brakes are hard to hold in a turn. The brakes may be getting a little hard and glazed causing them not to hold as well.

    D4H Engine compartment side panels...NEEDED!

If you can get a drawing of a set you might get a fab shop to make some up out of a sheet of perferated metal. Should be cheaper than 500 a pop.

    D3B questions, little help needed

From all of the information that I hav gathered you can use the same oil. I use Mobil Delvac 15-40 because I got a deal on a bunch of it last year. Some people prefer Shell Rotella. One thing to watch for on the 3204 engines is not to run them hot. The 3204 is also known for having a lot of...

    D3B questions, little help needed

The D3B has two steering valves located under the seat. There is a roller bearing on the end of the valve that is known for going bad. It dows not push the valve all of theway in to release hydraulic pressure on the clutches. Check this first. To adjust the brakes first disconnect the lever...
