    Adjust cat hydrostatic transmissions

Hi all, done some repairs to my 943 track loader 31y transmission and wow! What a procedure to adjust all the linkages etc. Anyone got some tips to make it a bit easier? Most of the tools I need to adjust everything correctly are discontinued….

    CAT 943 transmission whine

Handy little machine for sure. One thing I can’t wrap my head around is that transmission fluid level is so important, why didn’t they make a dipstick that has a stop or something like the engine for more accuracy

    CAT 943 transmission whine

I will get a photo for you all to see but this is the photo of sis. Looking at this picture it goes in the small hole but when I put in the small hole the end of the dipstick was chewed off by the gears in pump drive

    CAT d6c serial number stamp

Thank you. I thought maybe the engine could have been changed so I removed ripper frame to double check the serial number that is stamped on the frame. I am getting the feeling that parts could be an issue, that might explain the cheap price

    CAT d6c serial number stamp

I have read some threads on here about serial number locations etc, however I have just bought a d6c and the serial number stamp at the rear is rubbed off because the ripper frame has been used for a while with lose bolts. Engine serial plate says 73a193 but doesn’t seem to work when searched on...

CAT 943 31Y hydrostatic linkage arms

Hi all. Trying to wrap my head around hydrostatics, I have never touched one prior. The linkage arms on steering link arms in the hpcu seem to have a lot of play up and down in the dowels (I think from what I can see they look like a dowel). Is this normal because there is no nut or anything...
