The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Hey Mike, Is your choke connected to a solenoid? If so do you have a choke function on the platform control?

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

I'd like to put a test port on the pilot control valve pictured here. It's the one marked Fluid Control inc. It has a drain plug that is 1/4 inch below the adjuster. Does anyone know if I would get an accurate read from there? Thanks again,

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Hi, I found a break-down and assembly of the Racine solenoids. I put them together correctly so I'm still unsure what's going on there.

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Anyone out there with Bertea knowledge? Here's where I'm at. I am thinking the problem is within these 2 valves. I have zero functions from the Bertea valve body. ZERO. Even when I manually engage the valve body nothing works. I have dismantled the valve body and cleaned it. Removed the fine...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

As for the Racine solenoid's they are grounded. I'm leaning towards me assembling them wrong. I put it together with the leads facing the outside of the body. Then goes the larger liner with the taper side towards the center. Then goes the spring. Then goes the smaller liner with the taper...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Okay today was better Dave, I installed the diode. I wasn't sure of the properties so I just matched one to the 2 that were in the panel. Found out the hard-way that it's directional. Charge is great, and all switches are functioning again. Thanks again OFF. You are amazing man!

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Hi Rick39, I've played around with that adjustment. There is little response. I have it centered in that either direction the engine rpm's drop. Did you say there is a filter screen in there?

WOW, I'm just seeing this. Sorry that I've not checked in.

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Hey Off, Thanks for your fast reply. The neg. side of each solenoid has a short jumper to ground. The ground is one of the 4 long bolts that holds the solenoid in place. That in turn runs into the valve body which is bolted directly to the 40F's frame. I tried switching those ground leads and...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Hi All, I’ve been working on the 40F for a month now and unfortunately, it’s no further along. Too many issues to post them all here today, but I have 2 that hopefully can be fixed easier than the rest. 1st one is with the Racine valve body (bang bang). I removed it and reconditioned it, new...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

The spools seemed to be exactly the same. Direction wise anyway. I'll look around maybe someone over at Parker may have that answer. I'll price out some high pressure shut off valves this week. Do you think I could do the test with 2 valves? I could go block by block. Thanks Off for your help...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Is there any way to do a bypass test of some sort? As for those 2 dump valves, I only have the ground control connected up. In the ground position those dump valves are powered at all times. Not sure if that's right? Shouldn't they shift on and off when I use a control switch? When I turn on the...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Opened up those two flow dividers today. The one with 3 hoses has a shuttle inside. There are a few slight scratches on that shuttle, but I mean slight. Pushing on that is a large spring. Nothing looked out of place, and it was clean in The 4 port one, I just opened up the adjuster area. Small...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Hi Off, I did open the block bolted to the body. It was clean but it's hard to say what's going inside there. There is a minimal gain when I play with the adjustment screw on the side (just out of view on its left side). The one laying on top of the Bertea valve body was never touched. Should...

Old Iron Electrical, Anything related to electrical dilemma's precomputer.

The water and freezing was done naturally here. Did nothing. It goes down to -20 here in the middle of Jan. I've owned the 40F for 8 years now. It's frozen every year. I wish my chimneys were built with that cement. Now you have me worried. Who knows what's under that old cement. Could be the...

The JLG 40F Boom Lift Dilemma

Hey OFF, hope you're well. The valves I got are normally open type. Glad I got that right. Same specs as what was on there before except instead of just 1 o-ring there are 3. Not sure how to test them. I put power on them and they each moved but not sure if that's a proper test.

Old Iron Electrical, Anything related to electrical dilemma's precomputer.

I tried muriatic acid when the boom worked. Did nothing but bubble a bit and turn a few hose fittings blue. I don't have an air compressor strong enough to run a chisel. May be worth buying one. No worries about wiring, nothing like that in there. Just hoses. I like your pester idea...
