    Stone Slinger Trucks

Tri County Excavating had 4 Telebelts form Putzmieser. One hopper for aggregate and one for concrete. There was even a pressure washer on the truck to clean the Hose and belts, and an air line for air tools to be used for maintenance.

    Chalmers Suspension Help

Like the man said put about 5 ton in and turn hard both left and right Check the distance from the tire to the frame. If it's not just about equal, front to rear drive then the walking beam needs some bushing work. Also to relieve stress on those walking beams, if it doesn't already have the...

What is the best model of truck for you?

I have drove Macks R, CH, and the Maxliner and found the newer Macks to have more room than the R. Drove KW's and Pete's and also found them to be roomy. I have driven both spring and air ride, and don't care for the air ride in the CH model Mack. The most comfortable truck for me was the LTL...

    International 7600 10 wheeler

The company I worked for had 2 IH single axle dumps, both were wiring nightmares. It didn't help that the mechanic was a wire cutter either. If a circuit didn't work, he'd clip the wire and wire it to a power source. It wasn't unusual to have brake lights that didn't work without the marker...

    C-70 big block swap

Very few of those trucks ever had the BB due to the fuel usage over the small block. In the mid to late 80's the 366 truck motor was being used more. Look in recycle yards for the 73 to 87 Chevy C 60 to C75, or GMC 6000 to 7500.

Tracks vs Tires on Asphalt pavers

The company I worked for has CAT, Blaw Knox, and Vogle pavers all on tracks. Seemed like the tracks were rubber like a skid steer or mini excavator. We also had an old rubber tire blaw knox, and 2 of the blaw knox shoulder machines. the main one is bent to the right, and has NO power with a 3 or...

Case 580sl loader bucket spool sticking

Some spools have a spot in them like float for leveling and in some CAT articulating loaders the spool will stick in the up as well as float positions, and so will the bucket. I think CAT calls it normalized controls?? There is a switch on CAT that will turn off normalized controls if my memory...

    Truck suspensions

I drove a semi dump on air off road! t600 Must dump ride air before you raise the bed. The last company I worked for had a Mack cl700? on air. again it was both on/off road and the ride air had to be dumped before you raised the bed! The problem with that is it changes the geometry on the...

What can you do for a trashed dump bed?

Muffler Bearing surprisingly NO it did not! They cut a 45 on each end of the angle long end on the bottom, and capped the ends making the rails hollow. Also I didn't say these rails ran from the bulkhead to the gate they were about 14 feet long and started about 2 ft. from the bulkhead and...

    Single axle tractor and lowboy

For all you O/O out there! If I were you I'd make my company an LLC. It keeps you professional life and your personal life from being combined legally! Many companies used to use the S Corp to run under, and never finished incorporting. With the LLC you still have the corporate veil with out...

What can you do for a trashed dump bed?

In my old Ford the bed was an Alfab 18' x 56" x 7'! the first day I dorve hte truck, the gate would stick open about 2 ft. After consideralbe disscussions whit our mechanic, the pins got replaced with greaseable ones and the gate ears relocated. Whe theyrefloored the bed because I had worn it...

    Cat 3208 turbo

Here is the real deal on the 3208. First I don't like then at all! They were emission designed, meaning that they need regular service, so forget about the million mile oil! Once they start leaking, there no stopping them without major work. If you get one that has been taken care of, then...

3406b Smoking Breather in older Pete

Heck I'd pullin to the zone woth a load of hot rock on and have been on the interstate, running hard. Once I hit the zone, and sat there ideling, my truck looked like it was on fire. After about 5 to 10 minutes of ideling, it stop smoking so bad!

3406b Smoking Breather in older Pete

It's blow by. Its that compression from the cylinders that is getting into the crankcase. It will cause the engine to pour smoke out of the breather. The coolant smell is blow by from the sir compressor which is water cooled on the 3406. The only way to fix it is to re ring the engine, and the...

    DOT INSPECTIONS - insane

PROCUT: There was a company driver who told the company his brakes weren't working well. He was told to either drive the truck or find another job. He took the truck with the brakes out of adjustment, and couldn't stop going down hill loaded. He ran into a car and killed a grandmother and her 2...

Which hoist is better scissor of 3 stage cylinder?

I truely belive in stage lifts. Even the frameless dump trailers use the stage lift, and they are the most unstable units on the road when it comes to dumping them. A wind change can tip one over!

Air compresser problem in coooold weather

Muffler: No thats the pressur relief valve in case the gov sticks open (our CL Mack was NOTORIOUS for the gov sticking, and the foot valve not operating the rear brakes)! That keeps the compressor from becoming peices parts under the hood!

    '76 mack R power divider

If I remember correctly the camel back axles on a Mack don't have power dividers. They run full time well actually one axle runs full time until the wheel spins then you get the 1/4 rotation out of each wheel in a cross pattern until the traction is regained! If you have a Mack that handles real...

Air compresser problem in coooold weather

Add some Brake Line Antifreeze to the main system through the compressor input line to the main reservoir! Be careful not to strip anything out because you can't feel your hands! Also remove any ice that may be forming in the air dryer valve! I had one freeze up open, and that was a real trip...
