    Overload of the Day

One of my F450's was recalled for a frame brace. Had to disassemble the truck (utility body and pump hoist) so they (Ford) could install plates on the frame.

    Cat 12E control box

Everything seems to work smooth. Block the machine and see if the blade will drop without binding?

    Cat 12E control box

Thank you Nige. I have manuals, so I should be able to find part numbers. Grandpa, down pressure on the blade is the worst. I can't hold the levels in hard enough to put major down pressure on the blade.

    Cat 12E control box

So, I think the bevel gears in the control box on my 1964 Cat 12E (99E 10298) grader are worn. Is there a good place to get these rebuilt?

Can I break these off sticking out of basement wall

I put a pipe on them and bent them up and down, not side to side. They snap right off.

    Trees, Trees, and More Trees

Question: When you are supporting a tree and someone is cutting, how do you know how much load to support when he cuts the tree off?

    Road construction idiots

I pulled up to a construction zone and the was a flagger there. He was on his cell phone and waving his hand around. I didn't know if he wanted me to stop, go, stay to the left, stay to the right, his arm was just flailing all over the place. No body died, so I guess I did ok

Grab the shaft of an electric motor, don't let it turn and apply power to the motor. Tell me it's not producing any torque.

Not much info here on JCB/Volvo machines

I own a Volvo excavator. Volvo no longer supports it, parts are almost impossible to find. I've been told anything over 20 years old, Volvo no longer support, no parts, no info, nothing. My 60,000 pound excavator might be headed to the scrap yard. I own a Cat grader, 1964. I needed a part, went...

    EC280

Finally got the seal out, apparently there is a special socket needed. Well, the seal is out and a new one on order. I have a guy doing this, so I don't have much more info than that.

    Storage in the shop

I'm looking for a new shed. The wife says "don't build two". I think it might be a 48 x 64.

I hear that a lot, parts are NLA.

You wouldn't happen to have part numbers to go along with that, would you?

    Skipping controls on Cat 12

Thank you. I figured out that the controls need to be either in or out, aggresivley. I should be able to lift the front of the machine off the ground with the blade, correct? It gets no where near that when the controls skip. Also the front wheel lean.

    EC280

I bought a Volvo EC280, it's a Volvo, how bad could it be. Well, there are about 3 E280's in the states. Currently the rotator gear box is out, the seal is leaking like crazy. Got a quote of 6 grand to get one (a new gear box) here from Europe.
