The owner says it's an international international backhoe with a 4 cylinder diesel , clutch tranny and shuttle shift .... I Mainly need a machine with a loader and he claims it works well .... ///// Help Starting 1994 Top Kick with Cat 3116 engine after sitting 4 years /////

    Hi All, I have a 1994 GMC Top Kick truck with a Cat 3116 engine that was run regularly for a long time then when I lost a delivery contract the truck was more or less parked. The truck stayed parked for a number of years (friend said he estimated about 6 years overall BUT at some point during...

    //// 1999 International Internal coolant leak ?? ////

    HI, New to the DT466 and engine rebuilding but so far in parts to do the head gasket I have about $625 in parts... I have noticed that an inframe kit is about $1500 give or take depending on where you get one (where would you recommend?). I am assuming the inframe kit includes everything to...

    //// 1999 International Internal coolant leak ?? ////

    HI All, Thanks for the input thus far.... We got the head off and took it to a machine shop to check over ( to see if it was warped etc). The head gasket was blown in a spot or two per my mechanic (I have not seen it personally yet). The head checked out OK BUT the machinist mentioned that...

    //// 1999 International Internal coolant leak ?? ////

    HI All, I think my helper is at the point of head removal BUT per some thoughts here it seems as though we should put the thermostat housing back on so we can pressurize the cooling system more easily (We can neck down a hose to allow a compressed air hose to pressurize the block). I'm not...

    //// 1999 International Internal coolant leak ?? ////

    HI All, My helper overheated the engine (DT 466E in my International 4700 truck). After overheating, the truck started using coolant (has to fill about 2 or 3 inches of coolant into the resovoir tank per day but no steam out exhaust pipe). Oil is NOT milky so no coolant in the oil BUT...

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    I guess I was SOOOO hoping it was an injector, It didn't dawn on me to do the air test.... Had I had less hopes of an "easy" fix, I probably could have thought more logically.... I guess I will have to admit defeat and face reality shortly...soon the engine is coming apart....Sigh Thanks to all...

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    Today I figured we'd try one last thing before admitting defeat and actually looking inside the engine (hopefully...fingers crossed...THIS would be the cure !). Anyways, we took the injector out of the rearmost cylinder and swapped it with an injector from a cylinder that was working well...

    I looked up "bypass test" but didn't see anything helpful.....what is the bypass test? Thanks

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    Admittedly, I have not messed with valve adjustments on any of the trucks since I got them. Most likely, they should have been looked at early on BUT sadly we did not. Could a poorly adjusted valve make for blow by ? Could a broken / really worn valve guide cause the issues? (there is no...

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    Thanks for the compressed air and drop the oil pan idea....I was really dreading the head removal if not needed (unfortunately may still be needed tho) As potentially something easier, Is there some way to use a diesel compression gauge to figure out things without removing an oil pan etc ? Thanks

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    HI All, Thanks for the suggestions to date ....Here is an update.... I checked the turbo for end play etc....I didn't notice any real play up or down or in or out so I assume (?) that means the turbo is OK ?....well at least the bearings.. I suppose there could be a bad oil seal in the turbo...

    //// How to Depower a 2000 T 444E engine /////

    Hi All, Most drivers who are not owner operators are somewhat hard on equipment / trucks. I have stressed to drivers the need to idle an engine after an initial start for at least 15 seconds to allow oil pressure to build and stabilize and to drive conservatively for the first 5 or so miles...

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    HI, I read this idea somewhere on the web BUT how would this actually cause blow by or oil coming out the blow by tube? I'm thinking this has happened before since the area above the valve cover where the blow by tube attaches to the valve cover was oil covered probably 3/16 of an inch of...

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    sadly I do think he lugs the engine a bit.... Being used to tractor trailers he was keeping revs WAY too low (large Tractor trailer engines operate at revs way lower than a DT466 ) when I first started training him on the 5+2 ... I told him to try to keep revs up a bit relative to what he...

    //// 1985 International streaming oil out the blow by tube...WHY ? ////

    As far as I know this engine has never been overheated.... My 1999 truck from another thread is the one that overheated recently (sadly mobile mechanic said its probably a head gasket bit it could be a cylinder liner etc UGH....)...
