    1990 Ford 555c Steering Issue

While digging stumps Saturday, my steering went completely out. The steering wheel turned the wheels left but when I try to steer right, nothing happens. The steering wheel just spins endlessly and the wheels stay pointed left. Also any fluid I put in the pump just drains right out on the ground...

    How often do you grease?

Newb question: how often do you grease? One guy I work with who owns 2 large excavators adamantly told me after every use. Now I will admit, I am a newbie: going on 2 months owning my first TLB and loving every minute of it; But that seemed a bit excessive considering there's like 50 zerks (I...

    Boom Transport Lock

I'm kind of in he same boat as you, Lord willing I'll have a pole barn built this spring. I need to figure out the height of my boom (retracted) so I know how tall my door needs to be.

    Boom Transport Lock

I've decided to just leave mine locked up when not in use. The guy before me left it down as the lock was broke and he never fixed it. It's a manual lock that is pulled back by a lever. The lever is connected to a shaft slid through a collar that has the linkage bolted to it. The pin that goes...

    Why so expensive!?

I agree with JL Sargent. I know you can put whatever price on a part you want, but from a consumer standpoint you are a real jerk company if you are selling one hinge for $600+, one bolt for $40 something. I mean the tempered glass window is cheaper than the hinge that holds it! It's simply...

    Why so expensive!?

"...The aftermarket is better suited to these small runs. There needs to be demand." Unfortunately, there is no aftermarket parts like this. My neighbor is a machinist, he said he could have made it in his shop. I'll go to him when I need the other side.

    Boom Transport Lock

Does anyone else have a transport lock on their TLB? Also what is the best way to store the hoe? Retracted position? Retracted with transport lock activated? The boom extended resting on the ground? Some other way??? I always drop the front loader bucket down. What about the outriggers. up, down?

    What's your hoe doing?

I'd like to get one of those titan thumbs for my TLB. There's a guy with a YouTube channel called mantime who shows how to install and use one. Pretty cool.

    Why so expensive!?

The crazy part is the front part of that hinge which holds the door window in is $79. They look identical, but the rear ($600+) hinge is slightly shorter.

    Why so expensive!?

Recently I needed to install a rear side window on the cab of my TLB (1990 Ford/Newholland 555c). I searched around and the hinge is literally over $600 for each! I called Messicks and they told me it's not a mistake. I looked several other places and it's the same thing. Finally I found a guy...

    What's your hoe doing?

Maintenance till spring: installed hinged side windows, fixed steering leak, and then go over all fluids/filters till the ground unthaws. Then it'll be time to dig the stumps out of the house site.

    Block Heater Ford 555

I'm going to give the torpedo heater a go this Saturday: it's supposed to be 14 degrees. There are two reasons right now I want to start it in the cold. First, this is my first backhoe, and cold starting is something I want to overcome. Second, I need to fire it up so I can bleed my hydrostatic...

    Block Heater Ford 555

Great info. Thanks to everyone for weighing in. What are your guys thoughts on just getting a kerosene torpedo heater and pointing it under the block for a few?

Ford 555 power steering leak: HELP

Additional info: While doing this project I was perplexed at the size difference from the old seal to the new: the new being much taller. I thought Messicks sent me the wrong part, however I found a post on another forum about the same issue. The new seal is supposed to be taller and will...

    Block Heater Ford 555

I have a 1990 Ford Newholland 555c, and I'd like to add a block heater. Messicks shows a couple parts, however I'm not clear on how or where I would install them. My service manual shows an optional cold start aid in the form of a canister that injects starting fluid , yet does not address (or I...
