    Kubota tractor injection pump leak

Trying to help a friend figure out what this part on a injection pump is and why it's leaking fuel. The tractor is a Kubota 5500DT wheel tractor, SN 10302, with the D 3000A engine, the pump is a Nihon-Cav SN 07940TW, DPA19932F002. The part that is leaking fuel is the 2 inch diameter disc on...

Thread size for the Cat final drive plug part no. 4B-2363?

Thread is 1 1/2-12, it's a straight thread not NPT so not easy to find something simple to thread in. I have used another of the same plug and drilled and tapped it to accept a length of pipe to get oil to drain past the belly pan without going all over the place, spilled a little when switching.

    Converting caterpillar D2 to electric

The D2 tractor is a very well built, economical to run and one of the best small tractors ever built, that being said, it is a poor candidate for conversion to electric. The two main reasons are it is a heavy tractor and the design is such that it would not be easy to convert. You want to find a...

    Case 450 B Hydraulic leak

The way I do it is, take each bolt out all the way, one at a time, as you go, thread the four corner bolts (or which ever ones work best) back in a couple threads, then center the floor jack under the pan and snug it up, the remaining bolts come out without having to be under there with with the...

    Case 450 B Hydraulic leak

Floor jack and impact wrench, safety glasses for all the debris that wants to fall on your face while you are under there taking out the bolts.

    Case 450 B Hydraulic leak

Pull the belly pans and floor boards, best view and access that way, it can be quite tight under there, and if the hoses are original, you may want to replace all of them at once, when one of the ones down there fails, it's often due to age more than abuse like exterior hoses, and another will...

A little OT, Onan P224G-I on a sawmill won't idle.

Success ! I decided to go into the carb and see how it looked, here is what I found and did. The top came off the carb without tearing up the gasket, the Idle jet comes out once the top is off, and there was a chunk of green crud completely blocking that jet, my torch tip cleaning tools were...

A little OT, Onan P224G-I on a sawmill won't idle.

I do run the carb dry on this and all my gas engines that are not used all the time, I have a bunch of old Cat diesel tractors that are all pony start, running the pony dry every time they are used instead of using the shut off switch is proper procedure and a habit I got into long ago. Looks...

A little OT, Onan P224G-I on a sawmill won't idle.

I have an Onan P224G-I engine, spec, 10842C, on a Woodmizer mill that will not stay running at idle without partial choke, at full speed it works fine. It is not the original engine, a pretty low hour replacement in otherwise good condition. Is anyone familiar with this engine? I have the...

Running a Genie Z 45-25J with a Converter instead of using batteries?

If you are only using the machine for a couple lifts and little travel, you don't need good deep cycle batteries, buy 4 of the Walmart economy automotive 12V batteries, less than $60 each, charge them after each use and keep topped off and they will do the job and last a long time. Much easier...

    What is it?

It is a cartridge for a hydraulic pump, probably Vickers, that style was used on many Caterpillar and other applications, if in good condition is worth some $$, that looks like a Vickers part number, but not in my older Caterpillar cross reference. There is usually a part number hand scribed on...

Log splitter conversion to electric hydraulic.

When comparing the calculations from the Surplus Center to what is used on a hydraulic/electric splitter offered here, the difference is huge for the same force? and from what I see and understand, most gas log splitters in the 22-25 ton range use a 6 to 7 hp engine, which would be equivalent to...

Log splitter conversion to electric hydraulic.

I have a Gearmore 3 point tractor driven log splitter, that I use on my Kubota B20, it works fine, the drawbacks are, its slow because it's single stage running off the tractor hydraulics, noisy sitting next to the tractor, uses fuel and wear on the tractor. My thought is to build or buy a...
