Case 580D Swing Cylinder Rebuild - Stuck Con Glands - Any tips?

No need for threaded pin holes for a gland wrench. They can be cleaned out with a drill. If you have the proper gland wrench there is never a need to put pipe wrench on a gland. Previously damaged pin holes - I simply drill new ones. Anyone that attempts to remove a gland should have one of...

    Case 580E problems

Polarity reversed somewhere in the wiring ? Is the alternator charging at stupid high rate ? Is the battery boiled dry form over charging ? Deep cycle batteries are for trolling motors on boats. :)

Case 580C Backhoe Transmission Forward-Reverse REVERSAL after Lucas Transmission Fix

You need to start your own thread about your problem. Derailing this one causes confusion. Especially when they are two different machines.

Case 580B missing parts from main relief valve.

Welcome to HEF, mesc99 ! There are lot of 580's in salvage yards. I wouldn't alter the OEM valve because the main relief valve in it controls the system pressure, and that includes the backhoe. If it has one. You will probably have to buy a complete valve assembly. I doubt if anyone will sell...

Hydraulic cylinder repack: Do i need a new gland nut?

The rust in that bore is quite common. The wiper seal does not always keep moisture from entering the gland. Especially if the rod has imperfections.

    Radiator leak

The LH side of the image I posted shows exactly which oils go thru the cooler. Replacing the cooler is a better option than repairing it because of the pressure in it when the tractor is running.. IMHO of course !

Hydraulic cylinder repack: Do i need a new gland nut?

If you don't have a gland seal installation tool, I recommend that you get one for the inner seal. It eliminates the chance of damage when installing it.

    Radiator leak

If there is any confusion, your .pdf image showing the oil cooler is not part of the radiator. Your first photo shows coolant dripping off of the dual function oil cooler. It cools the torque convertor oil and hydraulic oil. Probably need to remove the oil cooler so that the radiator can be R&R...

Hydraulic cylinder repack: Do i need a new gland nut?

Welcome to HEF, farmerdavy ! Something is wrong. A gland should slide up and down a cylinder rod with some resistance. But, it shouldn't be as tight as you are describing. Are the grooves the seals sit in clean and free of any crap ?? Wrong seal kit in it ?? It isn't unusual for the interior of...

    Radiator leak

Hard to see much in the photo. Is this on your 580LE or John Deere 410D ?? Looks more like an oil cooler ??

I'm building an engine on JCB 3CX

Welcome to HEF, Salakawanda ! Which engine are you working on ? Is it Perkin's ? Or the one made by Kohler. The model of the engine would help someone to get those specs. for you.

    Best fill material

I would use sand to create a slope away from the foundation. Then cover it with a heavy sheet of poly plastic sheeting. Anchor that down with some course stone. It will direct the water away from the building and block weed growth. That worked for me when I built my deck, but I hated the...

Cat 430 lower swing tower pin broke.

It depends on whether the bushing will fit tightly in the frame. If it doesn't then you have to remedy that problem. Plan on replacing the upper pin and bushing too. The lack of grease in that damaged frame tells me you need to change the way you are operating the machine. Are you crowding...

(REALLY) Stuck Swing Cylinder Pin - 580D

Nice work ! An extension on the angle grinder shaft could get the disk away from the trigger and perhaps a little safer.
