    Komatsu starter safety relay

I disconnected the R wire and temporarily grounded it and the machine started. But if I permanently ground it the machine will start but it blows the control panel fuse. The wire is hot even though it’s disconnected from the R terminal on the alternator and it’s disconnected at the starter...

    Komatsu starter safety relay

Coalrulz and JohnC. Thank you very much. The knowledge and information that you are willing to give on this forum has helped me many times. This time you saved me from my machine catching on fire. I was clearing land and burning trees. The machine did right next to the burn pile and the wind was...

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

I figured out the water flow. It does circulate through the engine and back to the suction side of the pump when the thermostat is closed. They have a journal molded into the timing cover that routes water back to the suction side of the pump.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

It’s driven by the flat side.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

Another good question. I did check, both belt routes and they both spun the water pump the right direction.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

Good question. Yes. It is pulling air through the radiator from front to back. I did route the belt in the wrong direction once and the fan was going backwards. But I corrected it.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

It doesn’t have a fan clutch. The belt wasn’t slipping and it was turning the right direction.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

I’m trying to follow the flow of water through the head and block when the thermostat is closed and I don’t see a port that allows the water to circulate from the discharge side of the pump then through the engine and back to the suction side of the pump. I always thought that when the...

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

It ran perfectly. Good power, no smoke. It didn’t run hot at idle.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

I checked both pumps.(the one that was on it when I bought it add the new one I installed when it started running hot). Both pumps didn’t have any slack in the bearings and I didn’t see any damage to the impellers. That leads me to believe that the damage must have came from a water pump that...

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

Thanks, I’ll pull a vacuum on it when I fill it up.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

I’m not sure how to purge the air out. I couldn’t find any high point that I could open. I did drive up my trailer ramps with the front tires and pick up the front even higher with the bucket to get the front of the tractor/radiator much higher than the engine so that it would let air out of the...

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

I really like the tractor and haven’t had any problems with it. I brag on it often because it’s given me less problems than some of my other equipment.

This is a link to a YouTube video of my water pump test.

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

Thanks for your questions. 1. I’m not sure what engine it is but I attached the number plate below. 2. The original thermostat didn’t have any numbers stamped on it and the new one that I bought didn’t have any on it also. I researched online and it said 180° thermostat. So I assume that the...

John Deere 4720 running hot in 15 minutes.

My John Deere 4720 is running hot in 15 minutes. Chronological history below. 1. Oil cooler leaked oil into radiator. I had to flush the cooling system and change the oil cooler twice so far. Still running hot. 2. Removed then changed then removed the thermostat again. Still running hot. 3...

D4C hydraulic oil cooler failed 5th time

The cat dealer thinks it’s because of trapped dirt also. But with a round fan and a rectangular radiator, it does collect more dirt in the corners due to the fan air not really blowing hard in the corners. Most of my jobs are in areas that don’t have running water and all of my other machines...

Wow! That was quick and good information. Thanks. Where did you find an aftermarket one?

D4C hydraulic oil cooler failed 5th time

I’m going to take off the cooler this weekend. I’ll get pictures and part numbers after I get it off. Serial number is 4ls00410. The last 4 were rusted and had pin holes in the tubes. I only put about 200 hours a year on my dozer. I mostly spread clay and topsoil for residential house pads and...
