    Cat 955 Transmission Not Shifting

My first thought would be to make sure it’s going to neutral before you start it. If you start it in gear it will do what you’re saying because of the neutral safety built into the trans. Did you possibly bend the linkage or hook it up wrong so it can’t get to neutral.

    Former CAT/Deere/KOMATSU Techs Who’ve Gone Independent—$150 for a 30-min Phone Chat (Market-Research)

I was with a dealer for over 20 years and moved from shop to field mechanic then on to lead hand , foreman and finally service manager. For me it was just just the next step to go independent. I always liked the hands on part of the job and liked it best when I could plan my own day without any...

    Great Deals!

Here we go again. Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway. That diesel Hatz pressure washer is listed for $ 29000 canadian dollars here. About 33,000 after taxes. Yikes. I hope it gives you a really special cleaning experience. Bought my hotsy diesel burner with 15 hp gas engine...

Can't make this up light issue

I was checking the Voltage at the start relay which is also in the fuse box behind the cab when I saw a black wire attached to the start circuit on the bus bar. I traced that wire to the Boom light circuit. We turned the lights on and found a small amount of voltage on the start circuit.

Can't make this up light issue

I had a 345 cat hoe with a similar problem. They complained that it had repeated starter solenoid failures. I found that in the relay box behind the cab someone had run the boom lights ground wire onto the starter solenoid power supply terminal so every time the lights were on it was also...

    Cat 931 engine, destroyed

The bolt you found came from the piston. These precup engines have a bolted in hotspot where the precombustion chamber shoots its load out onto the piston. I’m sure there’s a technical term for it.

    D6T Transmission Issues

If the torque is stalling when it won’t move that sounds more like you have 3 clutches engaged at once. This probably happens because one modulation valve is sticking and not releasing that clutch when it should.

What does the dash show when you’re in the gears that don’t work. Is it indicating the gear you selected . You could also look at et to see what signal the ecm is getting from the shifter. When you do the manual clutch pressure calibration for each clutch is the pressure setting easy to get to...

    1963 D7E Oil in radiator

Hard to tell from a picture but it does look like that gasket has been passing some soot and compression on the fire ring. It’s not too likely that a simple retorque would stop an already leaking gasket. The gasket is usually distorted by the time it starts leaking.

    938G Hydraulic Fan

I would be checking margin pressure or standby pressure on the pump. If margin pressure is low the output flow at any given pump pressure will be reduced. Could be as easy as tweaking the margin screw up a bit to see if it improves the fan speed.

    1963 D7E Oil in radiator

Just a reminder on the coolant loss that hoses at -40 will leak coolant but will seal back up and look dry in warmer weather. It happens here all the time . I’ve seen that a machine sitting outside over winter will lose a couple gallons of coolant with no sign of a leak come springtime. The...
