    Cat D6C ID

First 6c I operated was an early build 73A, it was a cable machine.

    CAT 950A 1974 gearbox issue

90A is the first series of 950 with the 2 speed ps transmission with manual hi - lo range. This may sound silly, but make sure the range selector isn't in the neutral position between hi and Lo.

What is the serial number on my D6C Cat?

    6B for sure.

    930 wheeled loader 73u1

The machine serial number tag will be on the main frame on the right side of the machine behind the front wheel and the right crowd ram. If the tag is missing the number will be stamped in the frame, though you may have to scrape paint away to see it. From the wear showing on the brake pedal...

    Japanese 951C info request

32F became C series at serial 00902 co incident with Transition from D330c to 3304 and h.p.increase to 85h.p. (not sure that h.p. is correct as nephew had a late series 32F and I thought the h.p. was a little higher). '79 production range: 01634-01699 '80 01700-01763.

    Japanese 951C info request

As best I can tell from the sometimes correct book I have: 32F (JP) '68-'81 69H (FR) '68-'81 86J (US) '68-81 All ps trans, built as B & C models.

    Japanese 951C info request

The only other reference I could find to 19H series.

    Japanese 951C info request

This is a direct drive machine? The Cat equivalent serial index book shows no equivalent serial for the 19H, it appears to be the only direct drive 951 series left in production, the others having ended in the late 60's early 70's.

    Caterpillar serial number/ year model

    1974 Build year.

    What engine is in a cat 950 serial number 90 a 872?

    90A's had the D330T

    Cat 920

62K05672 shows as 1973 build in the book I have.
  15. R

    Hough H-70 and unknown Caterpillar.

The Cat is a 944A, should be a 43A serial number, which can be found on the frame on the right side of the machine roughly behind the crowd ram. Alternately, on the right side of the engine block just below the head.

    Cat955k alarm

Any aural alarm on a 955K is aftermarket, the gauges in the pic are all they came with (amazingly enough they look to be original). 61H 1408 shows as 1967 build in the book I have.

930 41k Wheel loader Brake cylinder leaking.

Remember having what sounds like the same problem on a 920 (same system), where excess piston travel allowed fluid to leak via the drain hole in the booster.

Cat 922 B front drive dripping oil

Can you read the tag on the engine block?, it will be the same as the machine serial number (unless the engine isn't original of course). These scans are from the parts book for the 88J series, and the shop manual for a 59A series .
  19. R

    Cat 966 B

    Yes.
