This will be an interesting thread moving forward......

I have a hired man who is a bit younger than me, always jumping up so I don't have to do some heavy thing, come on man, I am not that old yet, I can still lift heavy objects.

    What's it worth? Onan/Cummins

It will have little value because if anybody is to install something that big they are going to have to pay some bucks. And they will want it to run good at least 10 years. It is 55-60 years old now and that will put it at 65-70 years when that time is up. Besides that it has to be the...

This will be an interesting thread moving forward......

I resisted a digital, afraid the batteries would be dead whenever I needed it, or too fragile. So I used a dial. They don't like bouncing around in the truck either, even though I keep them in their case in the cab. So last time I bought a vernier. Problem is, my eyes can't discern the...

My Auction TL8 - Diagnosis: Hole in cylinder 2

Just curious, this is a DPF motor, how did you know it does not smoke?

    Rolled truck.... Cab swap?

A lot of companies and owners have gotten checks from insurance after some building or equipment burned down in the middle of the night, and they felt reasonably good, since coincidentally said property was no longer profitable for some reason.

    Aftermarket Diagnostics Tool

Since my last post up there, I have bought a Texa device and dongle for my existing (older) laptop. Seems to work great for equipment. Have to pay extra for trucks but I don't do trucks ATM. User @KisstDiagnostics sold it to me. He has a phone and answers it, in fact he calls and texts once...

    Just some work pics

The 8.2 and 3208 were from a prior era of engines than the 5.9 and 8.3. Not sure how the 6.6 and 7.8 fit in, probably a little in between. They had 3 axle water trucks around here with 6.6s, 54,000 lbs, up and down steep hills with a 10 speed and an exhaust brake, just the way it was back then.

    Just some work pics

Oh yes they did, out here they loved them. In fact I thought they were a trick that GM was playing on Ford to make people hate their trucks. They were probably the cheapest base engine to put in the medium of the era, but I don't know that. I am not aware of any old F-series of the era with...

    Just some work pics

Most vocational trucks are geared too high. For instance they often come with something like a 5.3 but a 5.8 would often be more useful. Allsion has a 0.65 OD ratio in 6th, even then it's OK if the engine is spinning pretty fast at 65 mph because you hardly get up to that speed, it is not a...

    Just some work pics

5 or 6 speeds is all that is needed for an automatic in a vocational truck with a narrow range engine. No way more speeds than that are needed for a pickup with a wide range engine, this is all just overcomplication for one reason or another.

Anyone been a victim of an equipment scam?

Are there more of these popping up in the last few weeks/months? Seems like a new question on them on here all the time now. The scammers must be catching some fish with this one.

Anyone been a victim of an equipment scam?

The web site looks nothing like what a greasy knuckled equipment dealer would put together.

Heavy Duty Woven Wiring Harness Heat Shrink/Insulation - Similar to Caterpillar

Why not use split loom for easy modification then? Seems like it would only be installed for short term diagnosis.

    Cummins new gas engine

Yes, a summation. Like in 2006 there was Cummins 8.3 with about 310 or 330 horsepower IIRC, HPCR injection, catalyst muffler, and nothing else. But I think they used some flex credits to get around EGR. But that engine was just about perfect, it just ran and ran with no problems, ran quiet...

    Cummins new gas engine

That new EPA guy said a number of things in his little speech, some other things are on their web site, but if they would simply say a return to Tier 3 (or is it 2?) without EGR and DPF I would feel a lot better. Right now it is all non specific and everybody on the internet is just thinking it...

    Rolled truck.... Cab swap?

I have a customer who is retired from the insurance industry, he said they are basically happy to pay, they just want to hang on to the money and earn interest as long as possible. And if that results in you giving up and doing your own repairs, that is just a bonus for them.

    Cummins new gas engine

That story was a total lie, what it really was, was the State fire headquarters shops (Davis) are right along the route that the out of state fire trucks were taking (I-80) and they stopped there for mechanical inspection, to fix the bulging tires and worn out brakes on the Possum Hollow...

KW final notice to dealers- no more w900L w900B, t800W or c500

Perhaps, but they surely already had this in the works for several years and did not foresee this eventuality. They probably have the factory floor space already allocated for something else, it's a big ship to turn around if they even think it might be worthwhile. May be a golden opportunity...
