    Track bushings

Spherical ball bushings are notorious for that. If there is any play between the shaft and the inner dimension of the bearing, they can turn enough to bite into the shaft. Brute force is the usual method as mentioned by Acoals. I've taken several out with a lance.

Gray market machines came into this country with that configuration.

    Cost of new pickups

Printing large amounts of money is because greedy people lockup their money in hidden accounts over seas to avoid their fair share of taxes. Having three mansions and multiple boats and airplanes and then whining about how everyone else should pay for roads, schools, research and the military...

    Cost of new pickups

In Washington State a manufacturer from out of state cannot sell directly in to the state. The manufacturer's only recourse is to limit the number of units that are available to a dealer in the state. MSRP means nothing in a free market society as the only checks on price are the demand for the...

    Cost of new pickups

I bought my Toyota Tacoma in 2013 with a canopy added for right at $30,000. It is the only new vehicle I've ever owned. I didn't drive it much in those days because I had a company truck while I was an employee. It's getting close to 90,000 miles now and I'll keep it till it is outlawed or there...

    Turning 50 kinda sucks.

I quit pop years ago, only drinking five cups of coffee in the morning before doing any work and only drink a couple of beers a month. A whiskey or scotch only on special occasions. Doing the second week of the pills now. That stops the burn but not the reflux. I angled the bed up so I can sleep...

    Turning 50 kinda sucks.

I don't feel anything with the projected diabetes. The reflux though just kills me for days. I'll have to try the apple cider vinegar and see if that helps. Problem though is that the check valve on top of my stomach is worn out and doesn't hold anymore.

What materials/alloys are used for excavator booms and sticks?

We would preheat at least enough to drive the moisture out of the steel. On big stuff like plating stacker booms we would preheat and then throw a blanket on top and sit down on it for cold mornings. For ripper shanks we only used rod and preheat was a minimum 300 degrees. We kept inter-pass...

    Turning 50 kinda sucks.

Had my followup with the doctor this morning. No clone to transfer my brain into so I have to live with this body for awhile longer. Hit the red line for A1C of 6.5. No diabetes drugs yet but supposed to go with the wife to listen to a life style couch tell us about diet and exercise. Doc...

    Loaders, Limbers and Roadbuilders.

That machine looks real familiar. The cage on the back of the machine is what we were building at the dealer where I worked in 1980. There were a lot of 5400 and 5800 loggers sold in those days.

What materials/alloys are used for excavator booms and sticks?

One would normally only want an expert welding on booms and sticks. We used both hard wire and dual shield for heavy welding. Hard wire was used a lot for clean metals and high deposition. Dual shield was mainly used for repair welding and a lot of out of position stuff. We used .045 wire with...

    Starter

It was ordered by part number that was still on the old starter. The new one worked when the adjustments were made. Initial problem is that this engine uses two starters. It doesn’t get that cold here so they are taking the risk of shorter life by only using one.

Need help determining the Model year of a Komatsu Dozer

My source shows that as a 2011 model tractor. Built from 2008 to 2014.

    Starter

Gears were the same, both 12 tooth. I counted both. Neither was an original Komatsu starter. I took the safety relay from the starter on the right and put it on the one on the left. Thankfully the owner didn't get an exchange.

Converting aux hydraulics to proportional control

Years ago we softened the thumb action by installing a pressure control cartridge in the pilot circuit that controlled the thumb actions. It took a special sub plate but used the standard solenoid valve setup.

Do you have a place where I can review that information? It is something that I would need to know at times.

What materials/alloys are used for excavator booms and sticks?

Most everyone uses 7018 rod or E70T wire to repair excavator booms. There is nothing exotic in that steel.

    Operator responsibility

My mother lost her father at an early age, crushed between a counter weight and a bank. That was the late thirties when big iron was relatively new. No excuse for it now days. My thoughts were to make it black and white. First time is a warning, second time is a termination. The operator only...

    Tech

The Simpson multimeter made me remember that mine finally died about two years ago, A replacement was over $300 so I went to Sears, one was still open at that time, and bought the $78 dollar digital special. There is just something about a needle swinging back and forth that is so easy to...
