Me-Gas engines like 391, 477, 534 ford-392, 549 blue and red diamond. Diesel engines 220, 250, 335, 350 small cams, All of the big cam engines,
plus the KTA series, Cat 1673, 1693, all A, B, C 3406 and C15 plus 3408, Detroit most of the two strokes plus Series 60 and DD15. IH DT466.
Only a sorted bunch of Mack engines. Most all American and Foreign makes.
Gearboxes Eaton, Spicer and sorry to say Rockwell.
Rear ends Eaton and Rockwell.
Worked all those models above at one time or another. Any of the Ford and IH gassers were hard on cylinder wear and pretty much mutts.
The Detroit's were really nothing to rave about, low on hp and torque, filthy and took up too much room as any V engine does. good in a boat.
Cummins-they couldn't leave well enough alone, too many changes and Cpl's that made little or no difference in performance. The VT 475 Hp
855 was a prime example of stupid stuff. Piled twin turbos and went to variable cam timing to try for more hp and lower emissions. Those engines
would produce 50 lbs boost-the 855 was not designed for that, crank bearings wore and cylinder heads and block couldn't take the stress of the high
boost.
Not even going to discuss two strokes-that engine does not like rpm changes, not meant for highway use-ok stationary or boat.
Cat-only engine they built that didn't belong in a truck was the 3408 too damn big setting in the rails and weighed too much.
The only way aerodynamics work is the trailer has to sucked right up to back of cab, otherwise a waste of time. Trailer foils are totally worthless.
