Thanks for replies on the turkey oak. When this felling season (winter) is over I will have a go at milling some, meanwhile it is cracking up pretty good on it's own.

Great pictures as always. Looks beautiful out there.
Glad you said that, John C., as this job had me cold through pretty much every day!
As boss you need to be the one operating the machine, not stood outside freezing!
For UK it was quite a cold snap, but we seem over the worst of it now. Just want it to stay dry.

Hi Graham, dry sure is best for getting on working, but it sure is too dry round our way. Ponds in our woods that are usually overspilling in February are practically empty of water. If we don't get rain at some point I reckon we could see a drought this summer, in Essex and Suffolk.

IMG_20210817_161616_6.jpg Hi hvy 1ton,
Ok here thanks friend, but I've been getting that sinking feeling a lot recently. We're having quite a wet "summer" this year, actually doesn't feel like summer much at all in the woods recently. We're in some nice trees at the moment, and the timing was planned for these months as it's a wet ground site. Soil here I think they call "Pudding clay" which seems pretty accurate.
