Drilling question...

Bit of a conundrum, I wanna drill through a shaft, then a bearing casing... Already through the shaft, I started the hole, in one of the set screw holes, in the bearing. I think I am through the 2" shaft, but the bearing case is significantly harder. Its only a quarter inch hole, and the space allowed makes the standard size 1/4 drill bit maybe about 1/4" too short. Anyone have any experience, in drillin this hard stuff?;)
