The boys from Cypress bought out Madill in the early 90s. They brought some of their goofy ideas with them. Some of those ideas were incorporated into the machines that were designed and built after they took over. As I recall also any Cypress machines that came through for rebuild were rebadged as Madill. As the saying goes 'you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig' I guess the one you're looking at could be either. Don't know if this helps but its all I've got. d.d.

Larry Forrester asked me to post this picture on here for all to see...Was taken in Nanaimo while these ten Yarders were being loaded for Alaska.. There is the cab for one of them sitting beside the pick up trucks on the left Do not know why the tower is missing from one of them. Time frame was between Dec 1972 and March 1973IMG_0196.jpg

Im not sure where the yarders are going. Thats the Coastwise berth in Nanaimo. Id bet they moved them by rail from the plant on Bowen road to the assembly wharf ,must have quite sight to see going thru town.I heard that Madill assembled and shipped quite a few machines out of there back in the day. I hope the tug still had his radar and mast left when they got to Alaska ,those pipes sticking over the bow look pretty treacherous when stopping her up in the dark. I did the Maintenance on that ramp for many years when we had our yard next door. We last used used it in 2010 to ship our equipment to a job on the mainland ,id be surprised if its been used since.
