Thank you for the offer petepilot but I think I’m going to get another transmission with the same torque rating. I’ve got a truck salvage yard near me that has a transmission and differential rebuild shop with a pretty good reputation. Said they had one for about the same price as the larger reman company I was going to use but with a better reputation.

that's fine .you need to go back with what you had or better. what part of Maine are you in ? we have a crew working on the 95 bridge at the nh-me.border .
I’m about 3 hours north of there, up near Bangor. Camerota can get me the transmission for $3250. I’ve seen their products go both ways. Years ago I swapped an aisin transmission in a dodge 5500. First one leaked oil from the front seal immediately, second one showed up with a broken electrical plug from strapping it down, 3rd one lasted a week and disintegrated, and the 4th was good.

I don’t blame you. The Ford has been a good rig and still has a year left on the engine warranty but it’s packed tight and I’m ready to move into a 14’ body. What are you running for a truck?

Homeward bound. Left home at 6 pm and rolled into the stealer at 4. Quick nap in the truck and got a tow truck to load it on trailer. Height was not an issue like the shop told us it was. More lies. Glad to put them in my rear view mirror F21A2A56-AAE3-4B18-BCF5-3262EE41152D.jpeg

That's great. Side drop trailer makes height issues less. Did you have to wood block a little, to get the rear bumper to clear going up on the trailer?

Either way, it will be nice to have it home. At least you have your other truck yet, so you aren't dead in the water.

I had my new-to-me T300 shop truck on the lowboy because of the transmission when I first got it too. When I picked it up in Idaho I looked it over and one thing I noticed and mentioned was the pto was leaking. It had been sitting for a while so the seller pulled it in the shop to have his guys go over it while we did the paperwork. We were in a hurry to beat a snow storm so I didn't pay attention to what all got done. I drove it 500 miles home and put it in our shop for a month while we got it all fixed up like I wanted. I assumed they checked the tranny oil level in Idaho but wanted to double check it, never did. A week after I put it on the road the tranny locked up about 100 miles from home, when I pulled the plug I got dust. Doh!

It took a little blocking and a little head scratching. It’s a snug fit but we’re finally moving in the right direction. Tomorrow I’m going to remove old transmission, clutch, and flywheel. Don’t have a replacement yet. Need to know input shaft size. Hope to collect it all this week and put it together next Saturday

So I posted the picture of the truck on Instagram. The service manager of my local nortrax who is a friend saw the picture. Apparently he sold the truck to a guy in Ohio a year ago who sold it to legend truck sales in Virginia who sold it to me and I brought it back within 30 miles of where it started. I can’t make this stuff up. The good news is that I know have some history on the truck.

Helluva day today. I have a customer with an old Samsung 210 that he uses on his hunting property. Fuel cap doesn’t seal and lets water in the tank. Drained the tank, removed the bottom and cleaned out the gunk as best I could. Fresh fuel and filters, an oil change , and he wanted me to run it to make sure it was ready for this weekend. Ran good for 10 minutes when I looked over my shoulder and saw flames. At this point I should describe this machine. Most of the covers are missing, it has no working key switch, etc. he has a push button starter and a shut off cable in the pump area. Right where the fire was. I jumped off and grabbed an extinguisher from my truck. Put out the fire and it flared back up. Tried to stall the machine but the push button shorted out so every time it shut off the starter would fire it back up. Tried to push the shut off and burned my hand badly.Yanked the ground wire off the battery then I was able to stall it and get the fire out. At that point the oil soaked insulation was smoldering. Peeled all that out but didn’t dare leave the machine until I knew the fire wouldn’t restart. The only cold thing I could find for the hand was a water bottle rolling around on my floorboard. Working is gonna be a bitch until this heals. Note to self- time to update the first aid kit.CBD945FE-6BEE-49C2-AFE4-1E61DDF3757B.jpeg

The muffler has some good sized rust holes in it. I’m thinking it maybe had a mouse nest in it which ignited once it warmed up. 90% of the damage is in the pump area. I’m going to repair the wires but wait for him to be around to fire it up.
