The last batch of grader blades I bought from Toromont were labelled made in China. I sent them right back. They weren’t even 5/8 as advertised. Even with all that paint.

Funny part was that I had ordered 3/4. I canceled those as wellView attachment 236024

Sad thing is they are still made less than a half hour from here but to someone China is a more viable option.
Yep.. cheap Chinese steal.

Should have kept one set just to experience how terrible they were.

Might explain why end bits on a brand new Cat 140 both broke in less than 50 hours working in clay. Stamped Cat but who knows where they originated.

Well its been a while sense I put some new info or updates on our 140m, the new reman engine stills burns about a gallon of oil a 10 hr shift, The department seems to think that's normal, lol, and also this past Friday my old partner was fixing a rough section of road when all of a sudden the rear right side of the machine raised in the air on him, lol, some how the chain broke and Jammed the front cogs in the tandem, NOT GOOD, it seems the bearing in the tandem let go causing the chain to jam and snap, piling up in the front of the tandem, so this is not going to be a cheap fix, most of the inners are damaged or cracked, parts are very hard to get it seems, I was told 35-40 plus grand to fix here in Canada, how's that for a nice start for the spring grading season.

Bummer. I'll bet that freaked out the operator!!!!! By locking the front tire it caused the tandem to oscillate until it hit the bump stop!!!! Wish we had pictures!!!!

I didn't think my Laptop had one either until my Granddaughter showed it to me. Just a simple slot on the right side end of the keyboard, next to the CD drive. No markings. She also gave me an adapter so I can scan the Micro SD card in my Drone.

There's also a couple other ports there that I have no idea what they do...... :)

Which bearing failed.?
Turns out one of the side links in the drive chain cracked seen here in the picture IMG_6326 (1).jpg let go which then caused a whole pile of issues, final drives, both drive chains, the drive cogs you see sitting on the table are all cracked and fractured, the bearings were our first thoughts that let go but after further inspection they seem fine

We had problems with the drive chains with this machine before, when it was still under warranty we were doing the PM on the machine, we were changing the oil in the tandems once the oil drained out we noticed pieces of metal lying on the bottom of the housing, turns out all the steel bushings on the drive chains that the drive sprocket teeth rest on were all broken off on both chains and in both tandems, never ever seen that happen before till this 140m machine, Cat covered it.

Drive that dam thing into the nearest lake.
The 500K boat anchor! Apparently Cat doesn't use very high quality chains in the tandems. On smaller chains some people will replace them with high end motorcycle chain instead of using industrial chain. Not an option on a grader but there had to be some heat treat issues or poor quality steel for the side links to break. Since it was already replaced under warranty is Cat helping at all with this new failure?

Do you happen to know how many hours were on the original chains when they were replaced.?
Is the machine Serial Number below B9D01578, B9G00158, B9M00596, or D9G00115.?
Did Cat also replace all the sprockets when they replaced the chains under warranty.?
How many operating hours on the replacement chains.?
Also do you have any photos of the broken link taken from the side as opposed to from the end as per the photo above.? I need to see the shape of the side plates (this might be important).
Also are there any identifying marks stamped on the link side plates.?
