My hydraulic pump came apart last fall and internally blew up sending metal chunks throughout the hydraulic system. Over the winter I rebuilt said pump. I've clean out hydro tank, new filter. Had a friend mention to install a "kidney loop filter" for extra filtration and then run it... im second guessing myself and a little afraid of damaging new pump. Dealer has been no help with advice, they say replace every component before running it to be safe at price of around $20k. Any hydro experts out there with good advice?

Were you running it when you noticed the chunks? I'd take all the hoses off (after marking their location) run a hydraulic hose pig through each one and make sure there's no metal in the spools, motors, and cyclinders.
