A friend sent me this yesterday. He had just unloaded some river rock when a huge gust of wind happened. Believe it or not, the only damage was 2 fenders and the tarp system on the trailer and, two air bags, some air lines and a bent battery box step on the truck. He was back on the road and headed to the yard by 4:00 pm. It went to the alignment shop today and everything including the frame is fine. Oh....the breakaways on the 5th wheel obviously didn't do their job. Hansen will be redesigning them soon.

Pete, do you guys do anything special with the equipment when you blast? Long ago when I worked a coal strip mine, at blasting time all equipment was parked on level ground, engines off, park brakes released. Something about shock loads thru drivelines...

From Tuesday...
Tilt cylinder on a D8T.
It's amazing what you can break at an idle.
The foreman said it broke because I was working in rock.
I told him that it was from .....
being abused by every top hand wanna be dozer driver.....
lack of grease.....
then I told him that he was an idiot.
I had the next 3 days off.......rain.
I go back to work for the idiot Monday.20210309_102638.jpg 20210309_102728.jpg 20210309_103950.jpg

20200422_101109.jpg 20200422_072349.jpg I caused it..
It failed on my on my watch. I'll bet that the rod wasn't a genuine CAT part. I've cornered out a lot of big rock and never had any problems. This broke at an idle.
Oh well.....
