i have an older 40h with low hours - it sits around a lot - ford gas motor - 2 wheel drive - went to move it in the fall and only the drive , boom up and down ,and boom rotate work - no other functions work i think it may have something to do with the creep mode or the fact that those functions that work all have joysticks and the others use switches can you guys tell me where to start to figure this out - thanks

I would start by checking to see if you have power feeding the toggle switch functions. Power is the common link to the toggle switches. Do these functions work from the ground controls at all ?

All the control on the ground are toggle switches, and the same functions work on the ground as they do in the basket. I think there's only one toggle switch on the ground that doesn't have a joystick in the basket, and that's the boom extend/retract, and that doesn't work.

Ok so to recap. You also have no ground controls and for platform controls only your joy sticks are working ?? Does your extend retract in the basket work from a thumb rocker on top of the joy stick ? Can you start the unit from the ground controls ? If you also do not have ground controls the creep potentiometer would not the cause. It only comes into play when your running at cut back or slowing rotation of the basket or turntable and only powers up with basket controls. Just trying to make sure if give you good information

All the functions you are missing are on the same valve bank. All the functions that are working are on a separate valve bank.
The two things I would look for, is a bad ground wire on the solenoid (bang-bang) valve bank. A lot of them only had one ground connection in series for the whole bank.
The second thing, is the relay for the solenoid valve bank dump valve. They commonly go bad. I don't remember where the dump valve relays are located on a 40H. Start in the main control panel on the ground. If you see a bunch of Bosch type relays, it will be one of them. Usually labeled.
