Most likely going to need to run a flowmeter on a job next week. Been over a decade since I've last used one so hoping for a little advice. I believe its a Hedland flowmeter.

Yep. The basic concept seems pretty straightforward. Just don't want to blow something up.

Are you just looking at free flow or flow at desired pressure? There's a big difference.

If you are looking for operating instructions Hedland should have them on their wbsite.

Ensure the valve is all the way open before starting the machine ! Careful if your loading up the pump as when the internal flow meter relief disc blows it can jump about 3’

I've not seen hedland flowmeters offered with a needle valve unless someone plumbed it in afterwards. Be careful as most flowmeters I've seen caution not to exceed 3k psi. They're usually aluminum and plastic

The setup I'll be using has the pressure gauge before the needle valve and the needle valve is before the meter. So the meter will only be exposed to the backpressure in the line returning to tank.

Many years ago I bought one from Northern Tool. Purchased a needle valve from a local hydraulic supply and teed in a pressure gauge. That was an inexpensive way to do not but must use extreme caution. It has no relief.

I noticed there are quit a few YouTube videos available from the hammer manufacturers outlining their process.

Here is what we use. It is a WebTec. It has worked well for us. The external pressure gauge is for the backpressure.
