2000 bar = 29,000 psi fuel system !!:D

How much electronics & software ...?

It's very attractive ... I hate the DPF & DEF

See orphan & obsolete machine thread.

Well, that pdf is dated 2009, and the only Tier IV finals are under 75hp.
The Dieselmax speed machine was run in 2006, before Tier IV even began phasing in.

As for a little more current, FPT diesels (even over 75hp) are around sans DPF, albeit they still need DEF for their SCR.

I was talking to their distributor about other engines they carry and the conversation turned to JCB when he told me there was no aftertreatment, I did not believe it.

I looked it up myself on the most recent engines, sure enough on some of the 4.4 models, EGR is the only thing that we would take issue with (of course they have electronic injection, turbo, CAC)

Some of them also have urea SCR but that is all they have.

I just thought that it was out of the question to not have a DPF or DOC catching the soot but my main thing is, it can be done. If JCB can do it so can everybody else.

I am not a JCB fan so much, either, but I don't think they are going away any time soon.

You looking to power something? I believe jcb also offers those engines in generators and whatnot.

Yes I was surprised to learn that JCB does loose engines. I figured it was only for their equipment. They are a little bit large for my needs. But mainly it is good to know that maybe someday we will get back to somewhat normal engines without all the punishment.

It's not something new, it's the way the regs were written. One can guess that they had the sense to realize that the smaller engines would not be worth the cost of the emissions system, and after all at less than 75hp it's not liking they're burning barrels of fuel a day.

Very hard to believe JCB has the best back up in the business reading some of the horror stories on here about poor dealer service and difficulty in getting parts. I remember reading about the diesel land speed record and JCB spent millions do it it. It was a ridiculous amount just to hold the record.

DPF, EGR, SCR etc isn't actually mandatory. All the EPA cares about is what comes out the tailpipe. The manufacturer can use whatever method they want. Case in point: Caterpillar used twin turbos and IVAs on the early on-road Acert engines instead of EGR.

Some areas have good dealers, other areas so so. Jcb didn't really have much of a market share in the usa until more recently. But they make good machines, and are a big manufacturer in the rest of the world. They sell the most backhoes and telehandlers in the world. And it's cool that they are still family owned.

Yes, the ones greater than 75 HP still have to have SCR because the standards for NOx are tighter at that level.

But they still don't have any DPF or even DOC because they must be burning that clean in-cylinder to meet the target. The PM standards are not much different above and below 75 HP.
