hey guys, good pictures. i didn't want to add a "like" because i know how much work it is to repeatedly do snow removal around a house/yard/driveway. up here in the Peace River area, we had a lot of bare ground here until 2 days ago, now we're getting more of the white stuff. the temp at 7:30 this morning is -19C (-2F) but its supposed to be warmer next week again
Here, I ran out of daylight. Up till 2:00PM it was miserable trying to see. Incredible fogging inside the cab. Defrost was NOT doing the job.
I clear a neighborhood. I started a goal to clear room for our vehicles by beginning with neighbor driveways. Couldn't seem to accomplish that among the "me first" calls.
I was working with 410C on next neighbor's driveway, when Seth came along. He was beside himself! Like me & everyone else, we downplayed this predicted storm. Seth had tried to clear it in Dorset (steep) with a skid steer. It didn't work! His neighbor, effeminate Carol (born male), needed help.
While Seth's Fisher Minute Mount plow was here 9 miles away, he struggled with a skid steer on steep sidehill. His mood was not pleasant when he arrived here! He needed help to mount the plow. It is cruel sarcasm to name it "Minute Mount". It will be mounted some minute, usually 65 minutes, and every tool of savagery you can find.
By 12:45 PM his plow was mounted. By 12:55 he was stuck!.
This is tricky snow. Tire chains are everything. Otherwise, don't let it slip. Traction is OK until a tire slips, polishing the snow. The operative word is GENTLE.
We then went to a retired couple. Their furnace blew smoke into the home. They had been cold since 7:00 AM. Their 800 foot driveway remained unplowed. Walking 800 feet through 3' deep snow might kill me, doing it several times to retrieve needed tools for sure, I'd die.
Seth got greedy, tried to drive in in one pass. 50 feet into the driveway, he was buried! We shoveled an hour, then went for the backhoe. Got flagged down twice on the way. Today, everyone needed help, even us.
Anyway, I did not get my driveway plowed before dark.
I have to adjust the yardstick I placed on the deck this morning. Nancy buggered the depth shoveling. Trying to be fair, I'll call it at 34" or two Springer Spaniels high.
