Peterbilt just announced their new 579 EV truck starts production in second quarter of 2021. Only takes "around" 3 1/2 hours to charge, and has a whopping 150 mi maximum range.

So- drive three hours (hour and a half out, hour and a half back to the shop where the charger is), sit 3 1/2 hours while it charges. Then maybe a 45 min run and 45 minute drive back to the shop and by my math I'd have 8 hours in......

Well maybe a milk truck, 25 miles to the farm, 2 hrs to load, back to the dairy, unload, out to other farm, load, back to dairy.

The nicest CH Mack I ever bought did that, had 30,000 engine hours, and 120,000 miles.

Better yet there is plenty of real estate on the roof of the trailer, deck the top in solar panels. Or how about make it where the batteries can be switched out quickly.
Spud_Monkey, Not sure adding anything to the top of a trailer would be a good idea around here, seems those trailers are too high already, or at least for some of the "drivers" we have that can not read signs. That sign on the bridge is the last one of maybe a dozen you pass in either direction on that section of road.bridge.JPG

You can see at least the back sides of four just in that picture alone.

Sometimes they are not funny when that same bridge 10 years back got a bus. Actually surprised that only four were killed!

That's a rare happening as in one in billion. Should be designated routes only for that bus to prevent such happenings. Only reason for low death count is the passengers that were paying attention seen it coming and ran to the back.

One of the problems I can see other than blind or asleep drivers is how it looks on a road map like Google:
Old Liverpool Rd..JPG
Bridge is barely visible at that arrow. And the road is designated State Route 370. But there is another road only a few hundred feet away marked Old Liverpool Rd. As you can see it only goes a couple miles but having the state route number and on the map it looks wider I can see how someone would think it's a better road. Old Liverpool does go through a bit of residential and commercial property but many years ago Old Liverpool was the main drag through that area! Thing is that road was built in 1930 to connect three different parks along that shoe of the lacke and was never intended to be a major highway!

That would be a nightmare to try and escape from, wouldn't be surprised if it gets hit more because drivers figure it's so hard to turn around so more likely to chance it. I have a little more understanding if it's someone hauling a load and not totally sure the height (still dumb) but to be driving a box truck and not know the height? Should have license taken away on the spot. That Youtube channel is hilarious, amazing there is so many idiotic drivers. I've never rented a box truck, but i'm betting at least 99% of them have it labeled on the dash the height of it.
