TC have put the 880 track gear on the 875.

Tigercat 890 and Waratah 626 Big Wood Series 2 with Volcanic Plateau Logging (as in Tigercat's 25th anniversary video) aiming for 650 us tons (600 metric tonnes) and above per day.

The guy on the controls is in Forestry recruitment and training/ safety paperwork, just having a play. The usual operator is pointing to which buttons on the joystick to push.

It can be hard job finding new crew recruits of any type in some NZ timber towns that can pass a drug test. e.g (news item in link below) 1032 pounds intercepted at the NZ border today. Damn Canadians (+1 nzer) allegedly trying to sabotage the nz timber industry, must be annoyed about the number of used madills getting shipped to NZ or something. Might be a long time before they ever see maple syrup on pancakes again.

Around here the government pays the people to not work. Then they have more time to make babies, or break in and steal stuff so they can buy more drugs. I am not against support for the ones that need it, just burns me when I see people who could work do nothing and get paid for doing it from the government. Which is part my money, being wasted as only the government can do so well.

Tigercat Forestry dozer

"Tigercat is currently developing a purpose built dozer designed specifically for use in forestry applications.
The decision to develop this model was the result of feedback from logging contractors, who stated the unique requirements of forestry operations were not being met by construction industry focused dozer designs. This niche machine is currently in the prototype testing phase, operating in various earthmoving applications in southern Ontario."

Sad to say sounds much as US Labor Market.
It seems to be a worldwide problem, something to do with entitled people and the New World Order me thinks.

Wonder what makes this a special dozer for “forestry“ ? You build a machine specific to forestry that you sell well under a hundred per year or you build a general dozer that can go into various applications with some minor modifications (as has been done for decades) and sell hundreds or thousands of. Not sure how you make money at a niche market dozer this day and age.

Tiger cat will always get a premium price for their machines because of their Factory support and service. My 855 has been out of warranty for over a year-and-a-half and the local dealership just came out and put all new leveling pins and bearings in my machine because that era of build had some with defective bearings. They did not even question it or inspect to see if mine had the defective bearings rather sent a tech out and completely rebuilt the leveling system. If you were to hire that out at the shop that would be over $15,000 in Parts alone not to mention $3500 or $4,000 for the install. You do not get service like that from any of the other large manufacturers.

Tigercat has built a pretty favorable reputation from Northern California to Southeast Alaska for good design and great service. Still, I'm wondering the same thing about a forestry dozer. Dozers usually build roads, level pads and many times then get used for tail holds. So what other task would differentiate the Tigercat machine as being a designated forestry dozer?

I would imagine it has higher ground clearance probably a higher lift blade, better balancing for more tractive effort and higher horsepower.
