Is that for direct electric 24v starter or pony electric starter 12V?
Original 24v starter was a Delco 40MT Cat #8H1913
Replace with updated Delco 42MT starter #10478998 and reuse the eccentric adapter.
Plenty shown on ebay.

that's quite a migration, did you do it in one move or make your way to the west coast in several moves.
Were all connected again through this wonderful technology .I can remember when these old machines i have were sitting broken down needing parts and some TLC and was near impossible to restore because the only place was the dealer and prices were way out of touch with the reality we live in.Now so many aftermarket and used parts and lots of help on the internet from people like yourself gives them new life.
Also amazing how tough these old machines were built. They will work all day long with regular maintenance and without any electrical failure unlike the new machines.

Family moved to California in 1955 when my dad was recruited by Bechtel Engineering for his hydro-electric experience. I was a young teenager at the time. Never went back to that cold and snow!!!!! California is certainly a different political place now.
Agree, those were tough machines. No reason most couldn't make a 100 year life if maintained and parts available.

Did your dad ever work on the Manapouri power station construction in NZ? It was a joint venture Utah Bechtel Pacific.

I don't recall. It would have been Engineering support from the San Francisco office if he did.
As far as I know it was mostly California Hydro-electric dams and power stations. In later years he worked on marine port cranes and development of sea-land container handling.
I do recall him working with Utah Construction and Mining in some joint venture projects.

Interesting, they might have even known each other. Things sort of went down hill at Bechtel in the mid sixties and my dad left and joined J.H. Pomeroy & Company also out of SF. He was killed while traveling to a job site in Wyoming, traveling in open range country when a wild horse jumped in front of the vehicle he was in.
