After another look at the hitch, I think it unlikely he has trailer brakes. He is using a flat four connector. There's no wire for brakes in a flat four. And it's not a surge brake hitch... therefore... no trailer brakes.

State of MO doesn't have any trailer brake requirement. Hope he stays in state.

And when he kills someone he will just disappear in to the hills I bet!

I know many people complain about the "nanny state" laws as some call them but it's 100% because of people like this that 90% of the laws have been written.

It's all a big joke to some people till it's your mother or daughter laying on the side of the road bleeding because this jerk tried to save some money!

Some people should just get their materials delivered to a site.

Trailer house frame trailer, no need to put tires and rims on all three axles of it- that would be overkill. And a exceptional trailer to truck connection.

The truck is a cut down old u- haul made to a flatbed, and its actually better than his last truck. Which about 6-7 years ago I watched him slide down a hill into a jobsite, because - well- who needs trailer brakes. Drug the truck all the way down a asphalt driveway, and the rear axle hopped the curb and the second axle held on the curb and kept him from the trees. I'm sure it still doesn't have trailer brakes.

It's crap like that-that really-I mean really pisses me off. I and others in the shop spend our time everyday seven days a week doing the absolute best we can to make sure the equipment
is in safe top notch road ready working order. DOT rarely ever finds anything to write up and when they do it's a license light. But with our safety record they still will pull our rigs in knowing
it's going to be slim pickings trying to find a write up. Then there are those turds like that one that just drive around and never get stopped. This town is full of the same turds, it makes me
wish sometimes I had become a weigh cop.

When I see a truck cop with someone pulled over, it's always the newest, cleanest, best looking rig on the freeway...

Ed
Could be pulled over for any number of driving reasons/moving violations.

Trucks with crap piled on dash board, dirty, crooked torn flaps, bent stacks, broken steps, dented scraped up fuel tanks, oil spots on back of cab and frame, broken cracked fenders,
bad glass, cheap stick on letters for name, multiple tires that the tread don't match are all dead give away to a truck and driver that have a problem.

I know a guy who used to haul snow for the city with an end dump. He said all the shiny clean trucks are the ones usually behind on maintainence and the trucks in their work clothes often are more road worthy because maintenance is more important than how shiny it is. Some places have shiny well maintained trucks.

In my experience of running transport for construction clean helps a lot but in my harvesting experience you had to be squeaky clean or so illegal that the paperwork was insane if they stopped you and that was the reason not to pay attention to those guys

It's just like goosnecks and one tons hauling backhoes or the like they are flirting so hard with being illegal but they never get messed with

Admittedly tho the out of 5 stops one was a checkpoint for everyone 2 were for officer discretion and 2 were for speeding so if i would slow down i would have less problems

Don't look too close at the tires on his trailer either guys, they match the rest of the rig.

My stuff isn't the best and newest stuff on the road. But I try to keep up with tires and brakes and lights, to at least make a effort. Its not easy and it costs $$, but I always look at the flip side, if something happens, I know I did my best to run good equipment.

The comment on 1 ton's hauling equipment by AzIron is spot on around me. We've got every little contractor running around with back hoes, pretty good sized zero turn excavators, telehandlers, track skid with a mini ex on the same trailer, etc. , all on a gooseneck or bumper hitch behind a 1 ton.

With todays hot rod engines, they have all the power in the world, they just can't stop, and the equipment is too top heavy for the truck and trailer in the hills and curves we have.

I have a guy about 3 miles from my shop, we drove by one day and I saw a cat backhoe up on his gooseneck trailer. Behind a single wheel pickup. I told the guy riding with me "he's going to dump that mess".

Sure enough, couple days later he flops it off the trailer on the curve by my road. Destroys the backhoe, tore the truck up, and I don't think it did the trailer any favors. And he owns a semi.

Of course he was driving a new truck a little while later, I'm sure our insurance rates paid for his stupidity.

I keep tires, brakes and bearings up on my two little trailers, prefer NOT to overload them to the extent he has. I likely have six ton on a 24' goose but is rated to 13k load capacity, especially on the E rate tires on it.

Looked second time, WTH has the boom secured to the floor, nails? Certainly he does not use that to lift weight?

We have two plates on the front of each tractor one is the Washington base plate the other is the Oregon Trusted Carrier plate which each tractor has a transponder for scale bypass.
Too many violations and Oregon will yank the Trusted Carrier plate and red flags will fly.
The other thing is our fleet insurance is also based on maintenance. The records have to be kept accurate at all times, because the carrier insurance can show up and audit the service
records at any time. Too many skipped services and insurance rates go up.
Because of so much equipment I have to make judgment calls constantly which involves each drivers driving ability. Equipment might get hung out longer than liked so it's replace the
shoes/brake pads early, tires sometimes early but It all depends on whos behind the wheel on how long those items will last.

Most DOT officers will back off when they see someone is trying to maintain equipment, zero effort surely means a ticket.

I run a tandem gooseneck behind my F350. I use it to haul crane boom, welders and misc gear to jobs. Ocasionally ill put my 303 Cat on it . Im licenced for business use ,but dot here says i must up the GVW to be compliant . This means my licence decal goes to the front of the truck. Inspection and stopping at scales even with the empty pickup comes into play. I have no complaint with the above but the kicker is ,i live on Vancouver Island . As soon as i pull up to the ferry terminal for travel to the mainland with my front decal the fares double. The pickup and driver alone goes from 70$ to 140$ ,with the trailer im up to 300$. They double fares to comercial haulers which are essential to our lives on this rock on an esential part of our highway. This wouldnt be hard to take ,i know it costs to run these tubs. But when im stuck in line waiting for hours as they load with motor homes pulling boat trailers that are taking advantage of 1/2 price fare sales it really p**sses me off.

I hear ya on the RV stuff, to see Doubles behind a RV and they have no more than a General Drivers license torques my nuts. Class 7 RV, a towed car or a Trailer with daily drivers then a Boat behind that. REALLY Not amused with ton dually with 38' Fifth or goose neck, with a boat in tow behind that.

As far as I know those configurations are not legal in NY, but then I'm not into the motorhome thing, but wonder what happens if they did decide to tow that rig into a state that does not allow it?

Just scares me to think that a person whose biggest car they ever drove was a Toyota Celica can go out a buy a motor home the size of a Greyhound Bus and take off cross-country when they retire!

As far as I am aware the RV industry places information out to the 'Happy New Owners' as to what they have and where can go, have seldom seen tickets issued to them.

Found this, but states nothing of Doubles save to length limit of 65'

Still Scary AF! Grandpa James and his 45' self contained self propelled Portable House with a car toter for his Lincoln SUV behind that!!

Green Ford is on the road again. I had to help bleed clutch and that was it. He's glad to have his wheels back.

Apartment building we're starting on this week. They can't reach anymore with their forklift. 20200926_155113.jpg 20200928_131110.jpg 20200928_131219.jpg
