This Dresser GALION a606 came with injection pump removed. The unit has been rebuilt and ready to install.
I am sure it was removed with no thought to timing or any other pre removal engine positioning. What am I going to need to do to install this injection pump properly so this machine runs again. What info do I need to provide? Can you point me in the direction to obtain the appropriate shop manual? Thank you in advance.

What engine do you have? post the numbers on your pump and pumpguysc will have a good starting point.

First, the plate riveted to engine, can only see the stamped numbers and not what they are, in this arrangement:
UDT-466C. G600E. GRADER
6720002U471130
2750. 2500
The plate on injection pump:
011
447. 97312
PES6MW100/320 RS 1109
0403. 476. 014
if these numbers do not help, then let me know where else to look. If it is any help, there is an IH (international Harvester symbol) embossed on side of block. Looking forward to your reply.

until the pumpguy comes along, take the valve cover off the engine, if the back cylinder has both valve rockers tight, then the front cylinder is near TDC so I'd assume it was timed. Do you have a gear on the injection pump? a keyed shaft? a tapered shaft with no key? How about the engine timing cover, what's apart and what can you see?

Sounds like a IH DT466C engine is right for that model, and Bosch MW pump should be easy to find a diagram that looks like your engine.

The gear is still in the cover with chain. The pump is the only thing that was removed. The pump has a keyed tapered shaft. I'll pull the rocker cover see where the valves are oriented. What is a good source for diagrams?

Search ih 466C and you'll find plenty of diagrams. If you have a keyed shaft it should be easy, the injection shop will have the pump set at TDC, and you just have to confirm the back two rods are tight and front two are loose, then find the timing mark to make sure it's close (that's what you need to search). If the key lines up, you're good. Just need the torque setting for the nut.

Delmer is correct.. just put the keyed shaft in the gear..
& there should be a timing line on the pump mounting flange & a line on the block..

Pulled rocker cover and turned engine to TDC #1, front 2 pushrods loose, set the pump gear (realized this morning no chain, haha), to line up, line to pointer. Looking at injection pump, the keyway is pointing down while the gear points 90 degrees to the side. Did the rebuilder not set it up? I did not see any diagrams showing pump setting to TDC. I will double check the engine lining up but everything went as you described. The pump is the unknown. How does one set the pump to TDC? Your help is greatly appreciated!

The engine can be 360 off because it's a four cycle, that's why you check the valves on 1 and 6 to make sure the front one is TDC on the firing stroke. The pump fires every turn, so as long as the engine is on TDC (not between intake and exhaust) then the pump can only go on one way. Line up the key on the pump and try it out. As long as the gear can't skip a tooth when you move it.

The fine adjustment is the slot on the bolts, and the marks there. If you're off on the gear and key, then the slot won't reach where you want to go.

U should NEVER turn the engine w/o the pump.!!
More that likely the gear didn’t move when the engine was turned.
Does your pump have a pointer on it.?? If yes, the timing offset is built into the pump.. meaning u set the engine on TDC n install the pump..
rotate the pump drive to line up the pointer w the line on the drive hub n bolt it down..
The pump DOES fire all cyl w each full rotation of the drive shaft..
To MAKE SURE u feel warm n fuzzy u can remove the 10/12mm Allen plug on the side of the pump, rotate the drive shaft in the correct rotation which will be CLOCKWISE LOOKING AT THE SHAFT..
Rotate the shaft until the tappet, seen thru the removed plug, goes down and JUST STARTS to come back up.. THAT is going to be compression stroke #1 cyl..

The valves on one are loose and 6 are tight....just so you know, the machine is located where there is no signal, so, I'm playing back and forth to apply what you are telling me.
The gear did not turn when I put engine on TDC but the gear had been rattling around for some time with pump out. I am hoping that lining engine on TDC #1 compression, I can just rotate pump gear to line up it's line with pointer on cover you can see with the plug out of timing cover.
Warm and fuzzy sounds good so I will try removing that plug and insure pump is #1 compression.

The pump was indeed not setup at TDC, followed your instructions and set it correctly. Second try installing the pump, the gear got flustered, all is lined up. Thank you very much for your help. You are spot on making this potential mystery understandable. Going to address other fuel system issues and probably need more explanations. Thank you again.
