Hello all

So i have a Kobelco sk 150 lc about a 1998 or better which i just purchased which also came with a thumb. We have been trying to use the thumb and the thumb will only go up into the stow position and not come down to squeeze anything. The pedal appears to be a on /off type pedal and doesn’t have a second pedal so we believe this machine was only setup to be used with a hammer or some sort of one way hydraulic attachment . The pedal has two wire one power and one wire going to a solinoid which then has a hose going to the valve that supplies the thumb. Any help would be appreciated . Any pictures or part numbers that i will need to make this work also appreciated,

respectfully

garrett

Yes, by the pictures, that machine has been set up for single acting hydraulics, and that doesn't look OEM Kobelco. I don't know enough about your machine or the control valve to say if it's capable of double acting hydraulics. I suggest you hire a machinery mechanic who is familiar with excavator to take a look at it, they should be able to tell you if it can do double acting and possibly direct you on how to do it.

Someone here may be able to help you, but unless they have knowledge of your specific main control valve then we'd at least need more pics of the control valve and whether the auxiliary spool is either pilot operated or solenoid operated, main control valves come in so many variations one couldn't just take a guess at it. That's why I suggested a mechanic familiar with excavators, not fix it for you for thousands of dollars, but just to give it a quick look, which they should be able to do, and give you advice on what would be involved in making it double acting if it's set up to so. Just an hour of his time for advice.

Good day Cfd
If you have a hydraulic schematic we can talk you through the process - you will need some additional components but with care should not hurt to much.
Kind regards
