If they were a good truck they'd be in the oilsands in Alberta. That's where the largest loading shovels are. I think Syncrude has the largest fleet of 797's in the world. They helped develop the O&K RH400 and there have been even larger hyd. excavators since then. Why aren't the existing Belaz trucks at least doing some field trials on job sites? Seems like just a group with a lot of money experimenting?

I'm also thinking of the major iron ore & copper mines of Latin America & Australia. Most shovels there are the rope type (P&H 4100XPC or Cat 7495) that will load a Cat 797F/Kom 980E/Liebherr T284 in 3 passes.
Their orders for ultra class trucks are usually in multiples of 10 units at a time, not because that's the quantity they need but more the limit of what can be assembled on site in one go.

There's quite a few electric rope shovels in the oilsands too. It seems really odd they made 4 of these trucks and haven't tested them in real world conditions yet. What looks good on paper doesn't necessarily mean it will work in the real world. Normally they'd build a prototype and start testing it to determine what worked and what needed improvement. I also agree the extra empty weight could totally defeat the benefits of the larger payload.

Ok, now I've been seeing the posts about this truck since early 2009 and now it's 2020 and I don't recall seeing anything about seeing them actually working someplace in a day to day operation. Seems like the tires are going to dry-rot off the rims before they start to show signs of wear.

Just hope someone is running the engines enough to get up to operating temps to keep them from rusting up inside from condensation. We had problems with equipment just sitting over the winter here in NY so I can not imagine the problems an eleven year old truck is going to have if ever put to work!

Okay then it looks like they actually got one to some place to possibly work it. Guess now they could see about finding someone who can load it without smashing into the side of the box!

I suppose because this dump truck is so big it can be spotted moving stirring up a cloud of dirt while standing on the moon. Can someone explain when equipment is just too big.
The cost of building and maintaining has got to hit the wall sometime, or it just becomes stupid or It's a Cog's Worth Cog's type of scenario. I can just hear the chairman of the
board at the golf coarse on Saturday morning tee off {Men you won't believe it till you see it, It's absolutely amazingly gargantuan It will haul 2000 ton's at a time and can be
seen from Mars, We will make billions}.

Everything being so big to work on was one of the issues with the Big Muskie dragline. Needed a crane for just about any repair. It's really sad they scrapped it though. 14,000 tons of awesome earthmover.

Considering how big the shovels are, I think if the truck was reliable they would run them in many places. Getting it there isn't really a big deal considering they run equipment in some cases 50,000+ hours the cost is minor. I think it all comes down to if it makes moving a yard of material cheaper. Even a 800 hoe is so big you need a crane to do anything, so if it requires a bigger crane not much different.

Just me though or does that box look tiny for how big the truck is, doesn't look like it would haul much?

I managed to get in touch with the driver of 75710, he says due to a decrease in production volumes, all ultra-high-capacity trucks (360 tons, including his 450-ton one) have been mothballed for a year already, and how long this will last is unknown.
