Kobelco sk 150 lc

hello all,

So i bought a 2000 kobelco 150 which was setup in cat controls. I can’t run a machine with those controls so i switched lines to backhoe or john deere controls which I’m use to. I never dug with the machine prior to switching controls but now im noticing that while digging i feel like the machine is very slow. the left hand swings and raise larger boom with two cylinders and the right stick controls bucket and arm. The machine has no problem lifting a full bucket but if i start to swing like i was loading a truck the machine becomes super slow while doing two things at the same time. Any idea on how to test the pump. My mechanic works for a hydraulic repair shop but we are just trying to figure out where to start since we don’t have manuals just yet and i have large job coming up. fyi seems faster with no load .

Does the machine have a pattern change valve and where did you change the pilot lines? I assume this is a Dynamic Acera model or as some call it a 6 series with positive control.

I wonder if you changed the lines at the MCV and the pilot control sensors are not measuring the signals correctly. If you did change them at the MVC you will have to either put them back and swap them at the sensor block or swap the sensor connectors.

How did it act before you swapped the lines?

I opened the door right behind the cab and all the pilot lines were right there. there was a diagram on the metal that showed how to do it. its not the acera model its the mark iv so i may be off on year. I’m not sure how it was before switching because i didn’t dig with it . It seems fast with load but i timed the strok of the bucket stick and it was like 4.8-5.2 time

OK then it is negative control. The best thing I could say right now is the document cycle times. Time each function full stroke but from start until it hits its cushion not the end of the cylinder. Time it 3 times each function and average it. This includes tracks too.
I will see if I can find my Mark IV books but I suspect others here have the spec as well.

Given the age of the machine it is probably wise to got through it and do an "A" & "B" adjustment. You may be surprised in what that will accomplish.

Also where in NY there are a number of very good Kobelco techs upstate.

ok stick out is 3.77,stick in is 2.69 to cushion. the entire boom up is 5:25. left track is 7.30 on high 10.30 on slow. right track is 8.90 on high and 1250 on slow. i only have one dealer out here and they are supper expensive. also do you have any paper on the a and b adjustment . i assume that adjust a and b side of pump ?

No those adjustments are for the stepping motor. But with your track speeds off so much you do have something going on with the pumps. I don't have the specs here with me so I can't say which one is off right now. I am not even sure I still have the Mark IV book.

Expensive is a relative term. If the machine is not right how productive is it? Lost productivity costs money.

You will probably need a set of gauges to connect to the pump outlet and negative control lines to diagnose though. 2 7500-10000psi gauges and 2 1000 psi gauges should do it. Oh and long hoses that will reach from the pump compartment to the cab.

Swap your p1 p2 pump psv's see if your track speed changes.
