What model is the loader in the first photo ?
It's a rental 973.
Same place that the big hoe came from.
While I'm thinking about it... Never, ever buy a machine from any rental company. These machines are used hard and put away wet. They almost take more abuse than our president! :cool:

Been rode hard beaten on and still producing while bruised!
This is the last 657B scheduled to be re-powered . I think to a tier 5. For now, it is used as a spare because it cant keep up with the re-powered E's or B's. I'm not exactly sure how the government incentive program works that funds part of the cost of doing a re-power. The mechanics have named this the 2 million $ machine.

I have always wondered if I was slightly schizophrenic.

I like running the spreader truck....for a month or so.
I like running the trackhoe....for a month or so.
I like running the service truck....for a month or so.
And so on...

I have always known that I would be more successful if I would pick something and stick to it, but...

Yep, I have:
A fertilizer spreader;
A good backhoe, and a not-so-good one;
A farm tractor;
A 50,000 lb trackhoe
A dozer
A heavy rollback
A tandem dumptruck
2 road tractors
4 dump trailers
2 lowboys
A bunch of other trailers and junk
And a service truck, which I use for my stuff and a few good customers

It's just me and 2 guys, one of whom is part-time

Oh, and one day, I am going to fix my motorgrader

So, boredom is never a problem.

How busy does the fertilizer spreader keep you? I've been thinking about getting one for personal use and possibly doing some custom work with it as well.

Anymore, it could be full-time if I let it. I used to do most of it from 50-100 miles from home, because there is only 2 or 3 for-profit farmers left here. Over the last few years I've gotten the deer-farming business built up to where everything I do is for deer farmers, or the state and federal govts, not just the spreading.

Here it isn't fertilizer spreading or spreaders that has become scarce is Lime Spreading, heavier, harder on machinery, spreader gets beaten to a pulp in short order. My cousin and I own a fertilizer buggy together, bought used and rebuilt it for our use, will not spread lime as delivery system made more for pelletized material not powdered, balls up and tears it up so we do not try it. Local near here is last to do such spreading where even our farm service co-op quit due to excessive maintenance on equipment. Maybe that is where you guys should lean?

Well, mine is about 50-50, but you can make a lot more spreading fertilizer. A 10 ton load of lime will do 10 acres, a 6 ton load of fertilizer will do 30-80 acres. 90% of mine is deer farming anyway, so it is usually by the hour, point to point.

Even with everything I can made of stainless, fertilizer is much harder on my machinery, from corrosion.
