I know that but it seems odd a 1983 model would sit around since April 1982. Built in Sep. or later 1982 would make more sense. That's why I posed the question.

Unless the system is wrong with dates .....
Smaller machines are often shipped to dealers and sit in their stock for months if not years before being sold. Looking at the build spec it contains nothing special in the way of attachments that would indicate it was a dealer order against a specifc customer requirement, so I think the chances are that it was built as a "dealer stock" machine.
And seeing as 27Y01652 was mentioned ..... DOB 7th April 1982.

Wow, those are early builds. I see in my serial number book there were quite a bit more 1983 models than 1982 models. Do you have the info on when 27Y01651 (last 82) was built? I wonder if something was improved for the 83 models?

Must be built in Japan waiting for orders in the N. America. Would they have certain times of the year they dedicate to building specific machines?

I found the "SIS" page on the Cat website. Parts.cat.com
I tried registering for an account yesterday, but it would not let me "acknowledge" and "accept" the terms and conditions. I emailed CAT and explained the problem, figuring it was on my end. However this morning I had an email saying their IT people found the problem and fixed it. I tried again and this time it worked. All I had to do was sign up for an account to gain access.

TBH I just wanted it's birthday, I'd love to find out where it has been before it arrived where I am now but that'd be stretching things.
I've been operating wash plants mostly for a time and have not had a loader that's referred to as " Mine " for a little while.
She certainly isn't the prettiest lass at the dance and it the lowest spec Seventy Two I've seen. It get the job done though.
