A local place got bucket teeth, pins, and adapters/shanks for me. They’re not what they’re supposed to be. Supposed to be for an 1-1/8” lip. The smaller part towards the tooth end is 1.0”, the rest is way bigger. He showed me what he ordered in the book, the part number matching what he got is for an 1-1/8” lip. So I can’t blame him, the book is wrong. The book also showed one opening width for the lip, and the mounting holes far apart. So it’s all different.

He didn’t even catch it, I did. When I first told him they weren’t right, he kept loading them in my truck. Then I got a tape out of the glove box, and told him these aren’t what I asked for, I can’t use them. That got his attention. He called the supplier right away, they asked him for pictures. He’s gonna try and get something that’ll work. He also offered to ask for a discount, and I could make them work somehow.

Parking brake works, finally. It holds on our driveway hills. Forward and back. Had to get it really tight to hold. I had to clean out the brake drum, from when the steering hydraulic control valve above it started leaking again last December. I hung a funnel with a hose under the steering control valve, to divert any leak. In case it starts leaking again. I know “red neck“, but I can’t take any chances on the brake letting go. That wouldn’t be pretty.

I‘ve already made use of it, to hold in place while I rig and lift the oak logs I plan to have milled into lumber. I wanted them off the ground, I cut and put about 10” logs under them.

I thought the transfer case front output seal was leaking, but the drive flange retainer bolts were loose. One was snapped off, the other snapped off when I touched it. I think that’s because of driving it a short distance with the parking brake applied, I haven't made that mistake since. I installed the new seal anyway, since I was ready to do it.

Now thats one helluva E-brake! If its on you shear the machine apart!! As Crocodile Dundee would say, "now thats a BRAKE!!" Grade 8's or L9's go in now?

By the way, have you done any experimental drilling on the bucket edge? I'm kinda hoping it is softer than I think--soft enough to take shocks when digging and hitting rocks, but hard enough to slow down the wear...and soft enough to let a drill do its work...
