I had a plan to got some brakes on my freightliner so i can get it home. Today i blocked off every thing but the wet tank and one axle brakes useing shop air hoses i now have some brakes. But it has 4 drive tires that are not blown out and they are not were they need to be and 2 tires have to be removed because of bad seperations. So tomorrow i will replace one out side tire so it will have one tire up on each corner then i will cut off a inside tire. Everything has gone wrong on this deal so fare trying to move it 7 miles by my self.

I made it.I was very discouraged last night after sorting the tires out. I thought it out and dismounted one outside tire and mounted up another i had problems getting it aired up with a air tank my coworker came buy and helped me out the blaster wasnt doing it so i used eather second try it worked. I rigged up a valve for the brakes a 3/8 ball valve put air to the brakes and a blowgun released the presser.I had my hands full steering and brakeing. The gas peddle wouldnt return so i wired my boot to it but it came off and i was pulling it back up buy hand . No air to anything so couldnt shift ranges i thought it would be in low but i think it was in direct because it would do 30mph in 4th easy that was top speed on this trip. The first place i had to turn off the black top i hit the brake valve with my arm i didnt know what was going on the engine was pulling down when i clutched it so maybe roll off the road i figured it out and released the brakes after that the truck didnt give any problems. It took over 40 minutes but i made it.

A little work and good as new!! Good luck on the new project. My Left shoulder aches seeing the grab handle style, missed a swinging grab, stuck arm thru handle, missed the step kind of dislocated my left shoulder back a few dozens years.

Stretch it out to about a 240" wheel base add a couple fuel tanks and someone will fetch it up. Those old cabovers ride pretty nice with some length to them.

Towards the end reminded me of the Good old days when took deck sets of Junkers to El Paso to send over the border for the Mexicans to try to use. In 1977 the trucks could NOT be taken across the line 'Intact', were a set of goons with gas axes on the border crossing, derelict got bought and hauled to the line, torches fired off, frame dumped into two pieces and both dragged across the border.

Spent HOURS in a bar near to the scene where the Mexican "Trucker Mechanics" would Butt Weld the frames have drive lines off time, fire up runaway Detroits to attack it like ants to a dropped fruit when it finished eating itself, have cabovers flipped up start them but be in gear and they would crash into some other machines. Absolutely GREAT for entertainment!!! Best yet were the street urchins trying to pimp for someone, comments like 'Hey Meester, want me Seester, she a Virgin Like me Madre' were VERY typical.

Thanks for posting that C.O., I had a very long day and needed a smile. It's nice to see a simple job turn to crap.

I figured you'd get a chuckle out of that. It helps me to know that no matter how messed up my day is, there's people out there like those boys trying to load a truck, and they somehow make it through their days too.
