D6D diagonal brace bearing retainer

Have picked up a D6D and an checking things over. I found the diagonal brace bearing shell was over one side. Jacking the dozer off the ground I could push it back into position with a screwdriver. I pulled the top cap off and while it can not be easily removed from the machine I could feel a hole in the top which I assume is supposed to have a dowel to retain the bearing shells. What retains the bottom shell, and also when pumping grease in there is comes out between the diagonal brace and bearing shell, not the shell and the dead axle.

Yea, got it out and the dowel was there in the top. Had a look at the bottom. Not the best. Dead axle and bearings are fine though. Then the swearing started putting it back together by myself. If I wanted to fix it, I would probably put some epoxy between the lower bearing and the track frame, with a release agent on the bearing. Bolt it all back together and wait for it to cure, then remove the entire frame, and make up an alignment bar to fit in the moulded epoxy. Weld on the line boring support bearings, then take a clean up cut, weld it up then cut to the correct radius.

Had me going for a bit, thought you were expecting the epoxy to replace the steel that was worn away, don't laugh had a boss that tried that on bushings for a loader boom. Yea, worked good for the first bucket of stone!

That was a common problem on the oval track D8 and D9 tractors. They just basically stayed that way. No one I know of ever fixed them.

Keep em greased and keep bolts tight. 2 different lengths of bolts, be sure correct ones are in it. Got a buddy that had a D9G bolts backed out and it dropped down. Operator crossed a ditch and broke the axle.
