I am wondering if a John Deere 17G would live up to my expectations.I have been waiting for the right opportunity to find the John Deere 35 but this 17 seems to good to be true.It is a 2015. has 970 hours on it. tracks are 75%. Perfect working order. Short arm.So my question is,would this machine be able to lift up say a 16 foot log about 10 inches in diameter? I have been looking through the information about this machine and the lifting capacity is unavailable. However I may have missed it.The bucket can be lifter 8 foot 2 inches. It has a 12 inch toothed bucket. However I have my doubts it this machine has the muscle to push over say a 10 inch tree.I have watched the 35 push trees over with considerable ease.It does have a hydraulic thumb. What is the height of a standard dump truck? 8 feet 2 inches is not all that heigh to lift into a dump truck.Anyway I am now thoroughly confused.Anyone have a machine similar to this? Opinions are most welcome. Thanks, Ken

This is going to be mostly for property management.Drainage , culverts, spreading driveway stone and other tasks. I will be able to tow it with my F150.

Well, it took a bit of searching however I managed to find the information I was searching for.Looks like I will stick to plan A. The lifting capacity of the 17G is 875 lbs in front and 455 lbs on the side.

If you don't need the 17G for its small size, get the 35. The only advantage of a machine that small is to go where nothing else will fit. Doesn't sound like that is an issue for you so go with the bigger machine and you wont be as held back by the 17's drawbacks. You would be hard pressed to dump into any truck other than a low sided flat bed type landscape truck.

KSSS, thanks for the words of wisdom. The 17 was just about 45 miles away. However after thinking about it I decided against it and will stick to my original plan.A 35 will be in my future. thanks, Ken.
