262d3 electrical

Adding a 2way radio to my 262d3. Looking for schematic. I don't see a conventional Caterpillar main power relay.
It looks to be really easy to repair, and well built, save for the catch for the fresh air filter latch. First thing I broke on it. Got a call into my TA to see if Cat has a fix. I know how to fix it my way, but, i have a hard time believing that I'm not the first one to break one.

I can't believe that I, of all people, forgot the serial number.

Just recieved the schematics, but, the S/N is ZB200544.

First, adding a key switched accessory.
After looking it over, schematic in hand, I went easy. I piggybacked the power relay output on the large gauge purple wire. I mounted the fuse holder right there because, if that fuse pops, only the 2way radio goes offline, and, 99 times out of a 100, a replacement fuse will pop right away. Next, mounting the 2way radio.
I fabricated a bracket to utilize the existing holes in the cab side (lower 2 are intended for optional fire extinguisher bracket, and the upper is for the HVAC inlet relocate). The I used a 15' Cat5 cable to allow remote mounting of the microphone. The RH HVAC duct has the RJ45 bulkhead connector mounted and the microphone hanger is aluminum angle in place of the factory striker washer. I go to great lengths to ensure that the radio and microphone mounting won't cause additional injury in the event of a rollover or other incident whereupon the operator is "out of the seat".20200331_194941.jpg 20200331_194953.jpg 20200331_195016.jpg 20200331_195009.jpg

Now, to the craptastic latch post for the HVAC fresh air filter cover. I broke that post with 2 minutes of checking out this new machine.

File offending area flush. Drill 1/4" hole in center of broken area. Notch a 5/16" shoulder nut to match irregularity in HVAC shell. Use a 1/4-20x1 bolt and fender washer on the inside, and the step filed 5/16" nut, a nylock 1/4" nut, and a shouldered 1/4" nut on the outside, and tighten.

So, my $1000 Caterpillar precleaner kit came (415-2795.....media number REHS5798).
Install is fairly straight forward, BUT, they forgot that the boom and hoses move adjacent to the precleaner.
I used two 1/4" spacers (to make 1/2") to place assembly further from the boom hoses and wiring. These are the after pictures.
At least they don't use the stupid Mann+Hummel air filter elements.
The kit was $760, but work tools division charged $160 to get it to my dealer, plus sales tax.

My 248B will brick out an air cleaner in under 100hrs. Sometimes, it'll be so bad that element sticks to the lid :(

All of my Takeuchi & Kubota CTLs are now fitted with precleaner air cleaner end covers from Enginaire. There was no such room available on this one.
