Here in Eastern Washington we have a lot of cemetaries that are left over from small towns that no longer exist. It's kind of been a hobby of my other half to visit when we see one.
Sadly there are a lot of family plots with dates of 1918-19 with one parent or another and 3-4 kids of varying ages. The one thing that ties them together is that most of these communities were all small railroad towns in the day. How was it spread? That's a clue.

My mom's side of the family have a story about my grandfather helping others during the last flu epidemic.

Apparently he drank garlic tea, many cups of garlic tea.
Grandpa claimed it was the garlic kept him healthy
His family said he stank so bad, nobody would get within 20 feet of him.
You be the judge.
I guess he would go to all the neighbor farms and get the chores done.

I never got a chance to really get to know him, he lived to far away to go see on a regular basis, he passed away when I was 10. Too bad, sure there were some good stories in there.

I would try the tea but I am allergic to garlic. (Yeah, it sucks)

lately everything is breaking faster than I can fix it. Right now I need to to fix the things that I need to fix other things.

That seems to be my problem everyday. :( Work all day getting one thing off the list only to have two things added. And that was a GOOD day! Some days it would have been better just to stay in bed and watch TV.

So in my continued isolation I decided that should get out on the road with some my bicycle and get some miles in. It is a recumbent trike not a bike but if I call it a trike people get confused.
I have been getting out lately but not going to far, longest run was 30 before today.
So saddled up and away I went. I was feeling pretty pleased with myself, I was only 7 or 8 minuets longer on the first leg of my route then last summer.
Turned off the main highway, took the connector down to the secondary highway.
Needed a water stop and a snack so pulled over in the same place that I always did last summer. Nice rural spot, farms on both sides of the road, very pretty.
Grabbed my bag of tail mix and was just going to dive in when I hear a woman screaming at the top of her lungs.
Thinking WTF, I look over in the direction of the noise

Here comes this HUGE dog. HUGE, did I say HUGE.

Crap, drop the bag of trail mix back into my handle bar bag and start pedaling.
Now here is the fun part. I have electric assist on the trike. Hills suck, bad knees, don't judge me.
With the system I have I am able to adjust my power setting and max speed with the twist of a dial and the push of a button. The hubmotor will spin at 48 Km/h max. So had the power up to 800 watts, 48 Km/h max speed and spun that crank as fast as I could.
Happy to report that I outran the great big cyclist eating SOB.
I was reaching for my can of dog repellent spray but that is the absolute last resort, glad I didn't have to deploy it.

Got down the road, checked for anymore dogs, cats, chickens, ducks whatever and stopped. Got heart back into the safe zone and not up on the red line anymore, had my snack, drink of water, reset the power back to 80 watts and 32 Km/h max speed and enjoyed the rest of my ride. Got in 50 Km total.
Great day.

Personally I'd be more afraid of a Chihuahua than that one! Seems the little ones have what I call a "Small dog Syndrome"! The big one's tend to be more of a problem from the tongue than the teeth. But then there are exceptions to any rule!

Oh man, you have no idea.
I have an eight bound Pomeranian cross.
He is 13 years old, missing 1/2 of his teeth and I have to pick him up and hold him when we meet other dogs. Little beggar will try to start a fight every time.

I was going to but a basket on the back of the trike and let the little monster come with me but since I'm sitting so low, if he meets another dog and gets stupid, well, it might not be good. I'm pretty much at eye level with most dogs that I meet, and most dogs have no idea what the trike is so little doggo will stay home.
