Came across the above machine with pretty low hours. (1,200) The only thing that would have me worried about that machine is the final drives holding up in the long run, and I would not touch it unless I know the oil in the finals has been changed at least 3 or 4 times
A lot of the earlier model CTL's had drive motor issues. I had one my self that granaded on a JD. I know Case had the same issues.
Any idea if the there were any changes to the drive motors by the time 2010 rolled around? Did the issues go away by 2010? Hope someone can chime in. Thx.

Well I know that they made changes, I believe increasing oil capacity was one of the improvements. I think that was done just prior to or at the start of the Series 3 machine which that is. The Series 3 was discontinued soon after 2010 as the Alpha series started in 2011. I cant say what year the improvements were made for certain but I would be reasonably certain that it was prior to 2010. I remember the word coming out well before the end of the 400 series. The 440 is a horse, 85 hp in what is essentially a medium frame machine. I had a 440 wheeled machine, service is kind of difficult on certain things as I remember. However, you wont find yourself needing more power.

Thx Ksss. Yes, 2010 was the last year of the 440 series. I have an 07 445 and yes, tons of power. And yes, some stuff is a pita to work on.

I did forget that CASE actually continued building the 440CT after they switched to the Alpha. They had got a large military order that kept production going on that model and I think a wheeled version as well. From a future parts standpoint that might be important.
