Hey guys,

I have a JLG Model 1044C-54 that I'm struggling on finding why the hydraulics are locked out. Also, I have no forward gears, but have reverse. Lastely, the engine does not shut down right away and it may take 15-20 seconds to shut down after the key is shut off. I suspect I'm may be backfeeding voltage to cause this issue. Can anyone let me know what to check or what solenoid that may be faulty?

Thank you!!!

Did these issues develop at the same time?
Are there sensors on the side of the boom? You could have an issue with that and it will prevent functions. The not shutting off right away may be a different issue.

What functions did you loose ? All boom functions ? Lift lower fork tilt ? Check your F&R first and make sure its shuttling power when you engage it into drive. You have a lock out sensor that prevents the boom from reaching full extension with outriggers being placed down and a boom angle sensor on the rear that controls interlock. They would however not keep you from having frame tilt and carriage tilt.

I think i told you wrong. I got 10054 skytrak stuck in my head. The 1044c 54 is the lull/ jlg machine.

You can switch the plugs on the valve bank . So usually drive - reverse will be next to each other. Simply unscrew both plugs and switch them . Once you do that and forward starts working then you will know that something is wrong with the forward solenoid . If it doesn’t then there’s most likely an electrical issue .

Hey guys,

My apologies for the late response. I got jammed up and wasn't able to get on the site. I found multiple issues with this thing. Long story is someone has been exercising their self proclaimed electrical engineering degree and the electrical system was back feeding voltage. I pulled the ignition relay and the machine shuts down right away; like it should. The hydraulics came to life all of a sudden. Not sure if it was from my wiggle tests or tapping the solenoids/valves. However, all hydraulic functions are operational. Now, the issue with forward. What it appears to be is the brake applies a few feet of forward travel, which is nearly impossible. Upon further investigation, I suspect one of the parking brake return springs have failed and the brake is binding during forward motion. Reverse seems to be fine. I wan'st able to pull the front prop shaft to see what's going on inside due to the weather, but I'm heading back to the site Tuesday of this week. I'll keep ya'll informed of my findings.

Thanks everyone for the advise. You guys are great!!!

Ok folks,

This issue has been resolved. The transmissions forward issue ended up being a 3rd gear jumper in the new circuit board. After chasing the problem and verifying all electrical connections, I found the jumper still in tact. I cut the jumper and all forward gears are restored. I'm glad it was a simple oversight and nothing major.
