I got what I believe is a '66 JD 450 dozer with manual angle blade, and a 3325 winch. Got it for a steal. The winch needs overhauled the adapter to the pto shaft was partially stripped, I just knocked the pin and slid it until it engaged to check the operation. Found the winch works great until theres any load and the brake barely holds harder than I could pull by hand, the right brake doesn't work at all(my biggest concern), and when you first shift into gear it'll grind then be good until you shut it down again, the pto is pretty hard to engage and grinds if you engage it with it running. Is there any adjustment for the clutch? Or am I going to have to rip this thing down and put a clutch in it? Also whats common things to look for with the right brake? The hour meter only reads 4664 and the engine runs well with no blow by and it'll still push dirt pretty well. I'm going to look for a service manual for it.

Yes there is an adjustment for the clutch and it is not just a simple adjustment. There is an adjustment for the mechanical clutch as well as an adjustment for the "hydraulic" clutch which affects transmission operation. They both need to be done at the same time. You will need to get a hold of the service manual SM2064.

As far as the right brake, again an adjustment may be in order. If the machine sat for a long time it may have seized linkage. Again you will need the service manual because there are a few steps required for that adjustment as well.

Most of the parts if you need any are available from deere and wegners of meyerstown pa. I wad able to get friction discs for my 3325 winch on a 550 john deere. Make sure you check the bolts on the front cross bar between the track frames. It needs to be bolted and not welded. Post some pics of your project if you get a chance!

These had dry clutches. Sitting unused outside they rust up & malfunction.
The front crossmember should bolt to the track frames. The bolts break, mechanics get lazy, and just weld them together. this makes any motion impossible. Crossmember breaks leaving the front of the tractor cantilevered off the transmission case. Broken transmission cases are common.

Ok, so I guess I'll have to start the search for a manual, I'm glad I didn't just adjust the linkage on the pedal. As for the right brake, it moves easy, theres little resistance unlike the left that you hit resistance when it starts applying. It makes me think there be something broke. I guess I need to ensure the linkages are all intact.

The front where it bolts to the track frames attach one of the bolts is broke off, but nothing is welded solid.

Posted the only pics I got so far. It hasnt been used much in the last 20 years. From time to time it's been moved around. Still needs a good cleaning. Figure id drop the belly pan, and pull the floor plate, pressure wash it all up. It kind of got put on the back burner a bit when the right brake quit working on my backhoe and I'm gonna have to pull the transaxle...
